Just south of the neighborhood, you'll find a trailhead for the Erie Lackawanna Trail. Park in the lot off Burr Avenue and go hiking or jogging on this multi-use pathway. The paved rail-trail corridor stretches for almost 18 miles between Crown Point and Hammond. Dogs on a leash can accompany you here if you keep them under your control and pick up after them.

Located just northwest of the Innsbrook Country Club, the Prairie Creek neighborhood includes an elementary school, apartments, and single-family homes. This residential community has quiet streets where you and your fur baby can walk together. When you want to get out and explore nature with your pup, go to Oak Ridge Prairie off Colfax Street. This pawtastic facility has hiking trails that wind around lakes, through prairie and wooded areas, and past a marsh. Dogs that are under your control and on a leash that's no longer than six feet may join you here. Make sure you bring water and waste bags with you.
