Dog Walking in Hobart

Hobart, Indiana is home to around 28,000 people, and while most of the properties in town are residential, it has recently undergone a commercial expansion. Hobart has 14 city parks, a few golf courses, and plenty of other recreational activities. It's a great place to live, and if you're a dog owner, Hobart will prove to be an excellent place for both you and your dog to make memories. There isn't a designated off-leash dog park in Hobart, but the city parks and walking trails welcome dogs if they're on a leash.

The Prairie-Duneland Trail runs through Hobart, and it's one of the most pawpular places to walk your dog in town. This asphalt trail stretches for more than 10 miles, and along the way, you'll see not only prairies and dunes, but ponds, woods, and neighborhoods, too. This trail is part of a network of trails that span across America. The trails were created from former railway lines that were no longer being used, and instead were transformed into trails the public could enjoy. Prairie Duneland Trail is also a good spot for running, hiking, and biking. When you want to visit an off-leash dog park instead, there are several options for that nearby, too!

This dog park was updated in 2016, and plenty of changes were made to make it an even better place to bring your dog. The park now has two big sections, and one of them is always closed to allow the turf to regenerate. These areas are rotated accordingly, and each section has benches and shade. Your dog must be registered and vaccinated, and you'll need to purchase an annual permit to visit.  Don't forget to bring water and waste bags with you.
