East Augusta
Just ten minutes from Matson, you and Fido can find an access point to Katy Trail! This trail runs a massive 239 miles, so even if your dog loves really long walks, we bet they'll sleep well after exploring here. The trail runs through woods and is mostly made of crushed stone, so we suggest wearing comfortable shoes. Fido can join you on the trail, but they will need to stay on their leash for the duration of your hike. Remember to bring along plenty of water for both you and your dog, and make sure you clean up after your pup.36

Defiance
Just a few miles up the road from Matson, you and Fido can have a ball playing at Broemmelsiek Dog Park! You'll have as much fun exploring this off-leash bark park as you will saying its name. The park features a small pond where your dog can go make a splash and do the doggie paddle. If your dog doesn't like water, no problem! There's plenty of room for them to run around and play with their pawesome new pals. There's also a shaded pavilion for dog moms and dads. Water is provided, but bring along your own waste bags.24

Carlton Glen Estates
Quail Ridge Park Dog Park is about a 30-minute drive from Matson. This off-leash bark park isn't the largest, but there's still tons of room for Fido to get in their daily exercise with some new pup pals. Water is available during warmer months, but during winter, it's shut off so that the pipes don't freeze and burst. Remember to bring along some waste bags for quick and easy clean-up. You might want to call the park's hotline before making the drive here; after a heavy rain, the park is typically closed until some of the mud dries up. Better safe than sorry!12

South Point
Downtown Washington, which is just 16 miles from Matson, is home to South Point Dog Park. This pupular bark park hasn't been around for too long, but it's already making plenty of local dogs happy. There's plenty of shade for your dog to lounge around in when they aren't running around with their new fur-iends. There currently isn't a separate section for small dogs in the park, so if your small dog gets nervous around bigger dogs or your bigger dog doesn't do well around small pups, you might want to visit another dog park in the area. Bring water and waste bags.
