Dog Areas in Villa Ridge

1 Park

Villa Ridge is a small rural community. People living here or visiting with a furry family member don't have to travel far for fun activities and services! There is one veterinary hospital operating in town. Others can be found in nearby Washington, Pacific, and St. Louis County.

Purina Farms is located only six miles east of Villa Ridge. This attraction operated by the pet food giant allows your leashed dog to accompany you to most of the property. (Some restrictions on leashed dogs do apply for the safety of animals or for sanitation.) The Visitor Center and most of the attractions operate seasonally.  Purina Farms recently built a complex to host dog shows and agility and obedience trials of all kinds.

For an outdoor adventure, Robertsville State Park is only nine miles east of Villa Ridge. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash no longer than 10 feet. The state park has camping sites and is a popular place to launch boats and fish. Two trails of moderate difficulty will take a hiker and leashed dog through a tranquil natural setting of tall trees, brush, wildflowers, and creeks. Spice Brush Trail is a loop trail of about a mile in length. Lost Hill Trail is a 2.6-mile loop that connects to the campground.

People with pups do not have to look far away from Villa Ridge for interesting things to explore and do!

The South Point neighborhood of Washington is located ten miles west of Villa Ridge. South Point Bark Park was named in 2017 and officially opened up its grassy space for all dogs to enjoy. The dog park is fully fenced and double-gated so dogs can rid themselves of the leash, sniff out a few new pals, and get some exercise. Amenities are few at the moment; water and a pavilion are planned for the future. A huge shade tree in the dog park gives the human companion a bit of relief from the summer sun. The dog park is free and open to the public from dawn to dusk.
