Saint Clair benefits from its proximity to Interstate 44. Amenities here are limited, but it's not hard to get to a bigger city. The two veterinary clinics in Saint Clair are equipped to handle most needs of dogs, but you can find more options just a short drive away.

It is just a fifteen-mile trip south on the interstate to Meramec State Park. This state park has almost 7,000 acres of land dedicated to recreational use. In the summertime, this park is particularly popular for its river access. Canoes and rafts can be rented in the park. Basic and electric camping are both available, as well as a lodge and cabins. Meramec State Park is one of several Missouri parks included in the "Cabins for Canines" Pilot Program. Dog-friendly cabins in the state park allow up to two dogs to stay for an additional fee. Dogs must be crated when left unattended; the state park provides crates for no extra charge.

This dog-friendly state park also has over thirteen miles of hiking trails for a person and a leashed pup to explore. Most of the trails are about a mile long. All are at least moderately difficult (mostly because of some of the beautiful bluffs they scale) and a couple are rated as "rugged". A 6.75-mile rugged trail features primitive spots for backpack camping.

Saint Clair has both easy and more adventurous outdoor excursions for you and your pup!
