Sullivan has many amenities for folks with dogs. Two veterinary clinics take care of most dogs' needs, and a mobile veterinary service even will make house calls. The town also offers places to stay for people and pups just passing through. Baymont Inn & Suites welcomes travelers with up to two dogs of any size for $10 per dog per night. The Super 8 also welcomes two dogs of any size for an additional charge of $5 per dog per night.

Although it's convenient for commuters and travellers, you and Sparky would be barking mad not to explore Sullivan! The town has five parks for outdoor recreation. City Lake Park has 57 acres of green space and includes an eleven-acre fishing lake. A 0.75-mile walking trail lets a person and a leashed pup get some exercise and fresh air among the greenery.

More strenuous hikes can be found at Meramec State Park, which is located just outside the city limits. This dog-friendly Missouri State Park has 13 miles of hiking trail among forests and rock bluffs. These hikes range in length from .2 miles to almost 7 miles. All are rated as moderate or "rigorous" in difficulty. Meramec State Park is part of the "Cabins for Canines" program -- certain cabins allow up to two dogs for an additional charge.

For a person with a furry family member, Sullivan is a great place to visit for a short time or perhaps a lifetime!
