Washington City Center

Washington is thirty-five miles east of Owensville. It is the place to enjoy a good ol' riverside atmosphere!  You and your pup can get a bite to eat while viewing the impressive Missouri River.  John G. Bier's Deck offers outdoor umbrella-covered seating for you and your four-legged dining companion.  The restaurant serves pub fare with some of the locale's best brews. Water will be cheerfully served to your pup, too.  Better for your pup than even the chow-stop is a visit to nearby Burger Park.  Burger Park is the destination for dogs needing to get out and run. The park has a seasonally operated dog run for off-leash exercise.  Dogs of all sizes enjoy their leash-free freedom here from November through March.

Union City Limits

Union is thirty-one miles east of Owensville. It is a short drive for some fantastic outdoor fun for your fur-baby at K9 and Kiddos Dog Park! This dog park is designed to serve the families that have children with both two and four legs. The side-by-side playgrounds let parents run their restless human and canine kids.  The dog park features a very large grassy space dedicated just for pups.  A separately fenced part of the park is reserved for small dog play.  Pieces of agility equipment, including ramps and A-frames, are added bonuses. Visitors will find plenty of benches and picnic tables. The city keeps waste stations stocked with waste baggies.

Hermann City Center

Hermann is twenty-nine miles north of Owensville.  Hermann is one of those picturesque communities that attracts visitors from miles around.  It is wine country!  The wineries and the annual Oktoberfest are big draws to the community.  A visit here will not disappoint!  Swiss Meat & Sausage Company hearkens back to the founding of the town by German immigrants.  This restaurant is a local butcher and manufacturer of bratwurst and other delicatessen meats.  You can enjoy a freshly-made sandwich while your pup sits comfortably with you at one of the five outdoor tables. ExpressoLaine on East First Street is another place for a tourist to mingle with the many locals.  This coffee shop features many different brews and drinks, including smoothies and a variety of teas  A sweet pastry tops off the visit. Outdoor seating welcomes you and your pup.

Cuba City Limits

Cuba is just twenty-two miles south of Owensville.  Cuba makes it easy to eat with your best furry dining friend!  Missouri Hick BBQ serves up meals that will surely stick to those ribs!  A variety of meat dishes makes this restaurant makes this a perennial top-list eatery for residents and visitors to the area.  Outdoor seating welcomes you and your four-legged pal.  If you happen to be traveling in the region and need a place to park it for a night, the Super 8 has a room for you and your canine buddy. Super 8 allows travelers to bring along their dogs of any size for an added charge of $15 per pup per night.

Owensville City Limits

Owensville is in wine country, and samples abound at White Mule Winery on US-50. The vineyard is a vast property of grapes ripening in the spring and summer sun. White Mule is dog-friendly and welcomes a leashed furry pal to come and visit. Samples of various types of wine are available Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 5:30 p.m.  The outdoor tables allow a person and pup to relax with a sample (or more) of delicious wine. Also, the winery operates a restaurant on Friday and Sunday afternoons.  A full menu of steak and the specialty Sunday dinner of fried chicken may be enjoyed outdoors with your canine companion.
