Whispering Oaks
About 30 minutes from Midland, you and Fido can go have a ball playing together at Barkingham Park! This bark park is located in Reedy Creek Park, right outside the Whispering Oaks neighborhood. There are two separate sections of the park, with one being for small dogs and the other being for large dogs. Water is provided by the park. Locals do warn that it can get very muddy here after a steady rain, so if the weather’s been bad, you might want to have some spare towels in your car. Barkingham might not be a palace, but your dog is sure to feel like a king!

Commonwealth
If you’re looking for somewhere to dine with your dashing dog, head to Charlotte’s Commonwealth neighborhood. It’s about 30 minutes outside of Midland. The best thing about this neighborhood is just how many choices you have. Zada Janes Corner Café serves up delicious soups and sandwiches, while Nova’s Bakery is a carb lover’s idea of Heaven. If you want to chow down on some pizza, head to Pizza Peel and Taproom Central! There are several other options in this neighborhood, and all of the restaurants have dog-friendly dining available on the patio.

Morrow Mountain
Morrow Mountain State Park is a bit further out from Midland, with the drive taking about 45 minutes. However, if you and your dog love exploring nature together, Morrow Mountain is a must! This state park has a few different hiking trails, allowing you and Fido to pick an option that works best for the both of you. Morrow Mountain also has two different picnic areas, so after enjoying your hike, both of you can relax and enjoy lunch. Make sure to bring along plenty of water, and be aware that Fido will need to remain on his leash when in the park.

Fourth Ward
Charlotte’s Fourth Ward neighborhood is home to Frazier Dog Park, and if your dog loves making pawesome new friends, he’ll be pawsitively delighted here! Frazier Dog Park has plenty of space for even the most energetic dogs to run around and play off-leash. There’s seating for dog moms and dads who want to take a break while Fido has fun. Water and waste bags are provided for you to use, and the park does kindly request you clean up any mess your dog makes. It’s important to know that children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the dog park, even with a parent or guardian present.

Concord Mills
At Concord Bark Park, which is only about 15 minutes from Midland, Fido is sure to have a ball! This large dog park is divided into two sections; like most dog parks, one section is reserved for small dogs and the other is for larger dogs. There’s plenty of seating for doggie parents, so you can enjoy getting a break, too! Water is provided for your dog, but it’s on you to bring along waste bags. This is an off-leash dog park, and it’s completely fenced-in, allowing Fido to stay safe while having fun.
