Roanoke Rapids is a popular tourist destination located right at the entrance of Halifax County in North Carolina. This charming city is definitely a pet-friendly place, which is highlighted by one of the first sights you’ll see upon entering the city.

Due to the large number of pups traveling through the area, the County of Halifax built a dog run, located right at the Visitor Center of the Interstate 95. The Halifax Visitor Center Dog Run is free and open to the public, so it's pawfect for visitors and residents alike. Once inside, you’ll find separate sections – one for larger pups and one for smaller or older dogs. Water bowls, clean-up stations, and a whole slew of eager pups will be waiting to greet you when you arrive!

Once you and Fido have had your fun at the dog run, head over and settle in at one of the many pet-friendly hotels available in the area. For more rustic pet parents, check out the RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, where you can camp out with your dogs for no additional fee. Looking for some fun trails to explore? Wag on over to the Roanoke Canal Trail for a historic adventure with Fido!
