Central South Hill is a puptastic place if you and your pup want to be in the center of it all! Centennial Park is found right in the middle of town and is an amazing natural area with plenty of green grass to roll around in and sniff. You will want to bring your dog's favorite toys for those impromptu games of fetch. Snacks, drinking water, and a blanket are also some essentials for a great day at the park! This is the pawfect place to enjoy an outing with the whole family -- you can let your not-so-furry children play on the playground here. (Furry children, however, aren't allowed.)

West South Hill

West South Hill is home to Parker Park. This park has a ballfield and open field that are both very well taken care of and loved by the residents of the town. You can bring your dog to play on this field whenever there isn't a game going on. Make sure you have plenty of waste bags with you so that you can help do your part to keep the park clean for the next group of ball players or fetchers to enjoy. You will also want to bring your own tennis balls or Frisbee for hours of tail-waggin' fun!

North South Hill

The northern part of South Hill is a quiet area with plenty of tree cover if you and your pup prefer the shade! Great Creek Park is a pupular destination for dog walkers just 25 minutes to the east of this part of town. This park has a small playground for any two-legged little ones tagging along with you! There are also many small ponds in the area if you find yourself looking for the pawfect spot to snap an Insta-worthy selfie with your fur baby! Just don't forget some treats to make snapping the perfect photo a little easier for you.

La Crosse

La Crosse is a neighboring community just a few minutes away from South Hill. Hankering for a hike with your hound? You will find the Tobacco Heritage Trail Trailhead here. Just grab a comfortable harness to make it easier for your dog to navigate the trail with you. This path will take you through the city of La Crosse and beyond -- you can find a trail map on the official Tobacco Heritage Trail website. It goes without saying that you'll need water and waste bags for this excursion, but a little reminder never hurt!

Dick Cross Wildlife Management Area

Just 25 minutes south of South Hill is the Dick Cross Wildlife Management Area in Boydton, right along the Roanoke River. You will find everything you need for a pupperific afternoon of fun in the sun at this wildlife area. There are trails for hiking and waterways for fishing and kayaking. There are also designated camping spots if you and your dog want to spend a little extra time away from it all before you head back home. You will need plenty of water and waste bags to make the most of your time at this wagtastic park in the heart of Virginia.
