Plan a day by the lake with your furry pal. Head to Staunton View Park off Mays Chapel Road. This facility has a public access boat dock, picnic facilities, and a day use area. Bring a boat and spend some time on the water or fish from the shoreline while Fido rests by your side. Dogs on a leash are welcome to join you here. Bring waste bags with you for your outing.

Scottsburg

Located about 8.5 miles southwest of Clover, the community of Scottsburg includes a few churches, a post office, and single-family homes. You and your pooch can take a walk along country roads here. There's a puptacular state park just eight miles southeast of this little berg. Take Spot to Staunton River State Park. You'll find over 17 miles of multi-use trails, boat access, camping, and more. Go exploring with your fur baby through woods and wetlands. Dogs are allowed to accompany you as long as they're on a leash that's no longer than six feet. Make sure you clean up after your pup.

Buffalo Springs

The unincorporated community of Buffalo Springs is about 27.6 miles south of Clover. There are some farms and private residences in this historic village. Go walking with your canine companion along one of the quiet roads here. For a pawtastic outdoor adventure, take your furry pal camping at Buffalo Park and Campground. Enjoy a cookout under the stars as you and your fur baby relax by the lake here. You can go exploring in the woods and walk along the water's edge. Wolf Trap

Wolf Trap has a few farms and private country estates. There are some wooded lanes here where you and your four-footed pal can go for a stroll. When you want to take your pooch exploring, head just two miles west to Paul C. Edmunds Park. Hike through the botanical gardens and follow the woodlands trail to get your exercise with your special pal. You can bring dogs to this Halifax County facility as long as they're under your control at all times. Bring water and waste bags with you when you visit. Wolf Trap is located about 13.2 miles southwest of Clover.

Staunton River State Park

About eight miles northeast of town, you'll find Staunton River Battlefield State Park. This 300-acre facility has a self-guided walking trail through the battlefield area. Hike through history with your four-footed friend here. You and your pooch can also explore the Edgewood Nature Trail in the park. Along the way, there are two observation towers where you can enjoy scenic views of the surrounding wetlands. You're permitted to bring dogs with you when you visit, provided that you keep them on a leash that's no longer than six feet and stay outside. Make sure you clean up after your special pal.
