River District

A trip to Danville isn’t complete without a visit to the historic and lively River District neighborhood in downtown. Take the oppawtunity to stretch your paws by going on a scenic hike at the Riverwalk Trail that begins right nearby the old renovated tobacco warehouses and stretches for miles past beautiful parks, rivers, and natural areas. Walk, bike, jog, or skate alongside Fido as you explore the shady woods and lands of our forefathers. Fido should be leashed at all times on the asphalt and concrete walking paths as you will most likely encounter wildlife and fellow hikers on the trail!

Forest Hills

Forest Hills is a quaint little neighborhood located just a paw outside of the Danville center. Wag here so you and your pooch can meet up with fellow doggy friends at the community hotspot known as Ballou Park. Not only is it a park filled with ball fields, picnic shelters, grassy grounds, playgrounds and tennis courts, it’s also one of Virginia’s oldest municipal parks. It’s a pawpular destination for both locals and tourists alike whether it’s to romp and play with furiends and family, or just to sniff out a quiet grassy corner to read a book alongside a furry best friend.

Danville Estates

Take a drive to the northern neighborhood of Danville Estates to find a barkful of entertainment and shopping activities to enjoy with Fido. Pups who love a bone, or rather a biscuit, can wag on over to Danville’s local Biscuitville to dig in to some freshly made treats. Eat a wooftastic spicy chicken sandwich or country ham biscuit alongside your pal at Biscuitville’s dog friendly outdoor seating area. Lansbury

The neighborhood of Lansbury in northern Danville has even more dog friendly places for you to try, but is pawticularly a great budget-friendly place to stay and explore the area. Southeast Danville

First off, wag to the Dan Daniel Memorial Park where you and Fido will have furrific time playing together in the large grassy sports fields, kid’s playground, and strolling along the riverside! If you want even more open space, then head to the Anglers Park where you can fish, bike, run, and more in over 44 acres of natural greenspace. There’s even free Wi-Fi throughout the park so you can upload your selfies with Fido.
