Broad Street/Main Street
Broad Street is a popular road in the middle of South Boston where you and your dog will find plenty of great dog walking spots for the both of you to enjoy. Tobacco Heritage Trail is just a few mintues away from the main strip of town. This trail is a wonderful place for a weekend hike. Just make sure you have a harness with you so that your dog is comfortable while making your way through the trails. Broad and Main runs right down to the Dan River, making for a beautiful stop for a picnic or a selfie on a nice day.

Eastern South Boston
Eastern South Boston is a suburban community. There are plenty of lovely homes in this area if you are looking for your next dog-friendly house. You will want to check out the Paul C. Edmunds Park if you have a dog that needs lots of entertaining walks. You can visit this local park for a quick stroll or a longer jog around the walking paths. You can also pack up a bag with some picnic supplies for an impromptu weekend bonding activity. Just make sure you have plenty of clean-up bags so that other dogs can enjoy this park, too!

Westside Village is a quiet neighborhood with just a few streets. It is the ideal neighborhood for families that like some space and privacy. Halifax Memorial Gardens is right outside of this peaceful neighborhood, just to the east. There are walking paths that make for a lovely and relaxing view on a nice day. You will find a variety of dog friendly rental properties and real estate throughout the area to accomodate fur-families of all sizes and budgets. Just be sure to double check pet policies if you plan on renting, as some properties in this city do have breed restrictions.

Woodlawn Park
Woodlawn Park is a peaceful neighborhood on the eastern side of South Boston where you can enjoy plenty of dog walking bliss. Pups and people love the area for its tranquility. Poplar Creek is a pupular place for dog walkers to visit on warmer days when they need a way to beat the heat without having to drive across town. This small creek has plenty of access points from the road, so make sure you have plenty of dry towels waiting for the two of you in the car. You should also stock up on waste bags and walk-friendly snacks for the road.

Canterbury Estates
Canterbury Estates is a pupperific community just a few minutes to the north of South Boston, in the town of Halifax. Banister Lake is found in this pleasant neighborhood. This lake is frequented by dog walkers and well worth the short drive if you need a place to cool off in that warm Virginia sun. You will need a good handful of doggy waste bags for the day. A harness is also useful if you plan on wading into the water at all, making sure your dog is as comfortable and safe as possible while you splash and sniff around.
