This neighborhood is located right on Lake Norman, which is a stunning backdrop for on-leash walks with your dog. For great views of the lake, head over to the dog-friendly Landing Restaurant. Take your pup for a short stroll on the docks next to the restaurant, and enjoy the water views. Then, head over to Landing Restaurant for a tasty meal on the restaurant’s dog-friendly patio. Enjoy Landing Restaurant’s delicious all-American dishes, including burgers, baby back ribs, hoagies, and pizza. If you’re looking for a furrific off-leash area for your dog, check out Swaney Point K-9 Park. Located 19.5 miles from Sherrills Ford, this 4-acre park offers separate areas for large dogs and small dogs who weigh 20 pounds or less. Both areas are shady and cool, and there plenty of picnic tables for owners. There’s also running water you can use to fill your dog’s bowl. Your pup will love meeting new friends here! If you need a pick-me-up after the dog park, head to Charlie’s Coffeehouse. Dogs are welcome at this café’s outdoor tables, and there are often treats available for pups. While your dog enjoys their treat, you can dine on freshly baked pastries and delicious coffee drinks.

Want to take a long on-leash walk with your dog? Head to Mallard and Clark’s Creek Greenway, which is 31 miles from Sherrills Ford. This seven-mile-long greenway follows Clarks Creek, providing amazing views the whole way through. The trail also takes you through floodplain forest and University Research Park. Bring plenty of water and doggy bags with you, and have a furtastic time hiking here. If all that walking makes you hungry, head to McAlister’s Deli. This Hickory neighborhood is home to another fun off-leash dog run, St. Stephen’s Dog Park. This dog park is 26 miles from Sherrills Ford, and it has a fenced, one-acre area where your dog can play, run, and meet new friends. There are lots of benches and picnic tables for owners to sit at, and there are trees to keep the park shady and cool. There’s no running water at the park, though, so be sure to bring some with you. To use the dog park, you’ll have to fill out an application and pay a small fee to the Catawba County Parks Department. Once you do that, you’ll be free to use the dog park anytime you like. Your pup will love playing in this fun-filled park!

Lake Norman State Park
If you’re searching for another fun place to take your dog for an on-leash walk, try Lake Norman State Park. This park is just 11 miles from Sherrills Ford, and it’s home to four lovely trails. If you want to take an easy hike with your pup, try the .8-mile Alder Trail. This beautiful trail offers great views of Lake Norman. If you want to go on a longer hike, check out the 6.20-mile Lake Shore Trail. This moderate trail will take you through the woods and along Lake Norman. Bring doggy bags and water for your pup, and enjoy hiking here!
