Macungie is a borough in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania that's also a suburb of Allentown, and more than 3,000 people have made it their home. Founded in 1776, Macungie is the second-oldest borough in Lehigh County, and this residential community that also includes plenty of open space and recreational facilities is an ideal place to raise a family.
Macungie is home to three parks you won't want to miss, and although they aren't off-leash dog parks, you can still walk your dog in these spaces on a leash and spend some time together. Located in the heart of town, Macungie Memorial Park is a 42-acre park that includes recreational facilities like a swimming pool and sports fields, as well a good dog-walking spot.
Another dog-friendly place in Macungie to add to your list is Salvatore's Pizzeria on East Main Street. This family-friendly restaurant has a few outdoor tables where your dog is welcome to join you for your meal. You can dine on homemade dishes like pizzas, burgers, salads, subs, and pasta while your four-legged best friend is at your side! Once you've had your fill at Salvatore's, you and Sparky can make a short drive to one of several off-leash dog parks in nearby towns.
Western Pottstown, Pennsylvania is only 20 miles south of Macungie, and this is also where you'll find Pottstown Bark Park. Located within Memorial Park, Pottstown Bark Park is an off-leash park where dogs of all sizes can interact in the same space, and they aren't separated by weight. This dog park requires purchasing a $15 annual membership and providing proof of your dog's vaccinations before you can enter. You'll love that the park provides visitors with waste disposal supplies and water bowls, but be sure to bring your own water to fill the bowls. The park also has shaded areas and seating.
