Book nowI was blessed my first dog in December 2015. I haven't been a day without him since. I now know first hand what it means to have a dog as part of the family. They really aren’t much different than the other family members. I've grown quite fond of learning about and meeting other dogs around the city. Don’t be surprised if you end up with the best ever photo of your loving loyal companion.

Best Dog Friendly Neighborhoods in New Sweden
Brookfield Estates
Brookfield Estates
About 12 miles from New Sweden, you and Fido can go visit Pflugerville's Harris Ridge Dog Park. Despite being divided into a side for small dogs and a side for large dogs, there's still plenty of room for your playful pooch to run around. There's agility equipment in both sections, which is pawfect for dogs who get bored easily. Waste bags are provided for easy clean-up, and there's also more than enough shaded areas where dog moms and dads can relax while their dog plays with new friends. This is an off-leash park, but once you leave the dog park, your pup must be on their leash.
Walnut Crossing
Walnut Crossing
Does your dog love going for walks? Do they love exploring new places? If your pooch is like most dogs, head to Walnut Crossing's Balcones District Park! This public park is about 24 miles from New Sweden. Your dog can join you for a walk through the main areas of the park, past the pool and basketball courts. They can also join you, though, on any of the hiking trails that run throughout the park. There are a few different ones to choose from, so you won't run out of new things to see -- or smell, in Fido's case -- together. Your dog must stay on their leash.
Triangle State
Triangle State
While Texas might not be triangle-shaped, don't let that stop you from visiting Austin's Triangle State neighborhood, which is home to Triangle Park Off-Leash Area. This bark park is free and open to the public. There's plenty of room for your dog to run around and play a game of fetch or even a game of tug-o-war with their new fur-iends. Are you and your pup night owls? No problem! The park is well-lit, so it's perfect whether you prefer to go at 10 a.m. or 10 p.m. Please remember to clean up after your pet; the park even provides bags!
West Campus
West Campus
If you're from Texas, you know how hot it can get. If you're not from Texas, now you know! Beat the Texas heat at Shoal Creek Greenbelt. This furrific spot allows your dog to take a dip in the creek that runs through the park, and we bet your dog will love to cool down by doing the doggie paddle! Even if your pup doesn't enjoy going for a swim, they'll enjoy the chance to get some off-leash exercise. It sounds pawfect to us! Shoal Creek Greenbelt is about 20 minutes from New Sweden. Don't forget to bring along a towel to help Fido dry off!
Clarksville
Clarksville
West Austin Dog Park, located about 25 minutes away in the Clarksville neighborhood, is the social hot spot for dog owners! This bark park has a ton of room for your pooch to run around, play a game of fetch, or socialize. There's also a lot of seating for dog moms and dads, allowing you the chance to make some new friends of your own. Locals do warn that your dog might get a bit dirty while having so much fun, but there's a hose in the park if you want to rinse them off. Remember to bring along waste bags for quick, convenient clean-up!
