About an hour’s drive north of Dallas sits the idyllic, clean and quiet town of Prosper. This small Texas community feels like it could be your hometown, even if you weren’t born there! The town’s largest park, Frontier Park, is a pawsome place to visit with your leashed dog. There is a half-mile multiuse loop trail where you and Fido can get some exercise, plus a beautiful pond and plenty of open grassy fields at this 80-acre park. There’s also covered picnic tables, restrooms, a playground and ball fields.

If your pooch is feeling under the weather or just needs a checkup, Prosper has four animal clinics to serve all your pet’s veterinary needs.

If you’re just visiting the area and need a place to stay, the La Quinta Inn and Suites Mckinney is just 12 miles down the road from Prosper. This clean and cozy hotel allows two pups of any size to stay with their humans overnight for no extra charge!

This area’s Pecan Grove Park has 21.5 acres of woofderful manicured grass where you and your leashed pup can play! Take a stroll around the beautiful sparkling pond and take in the sounds of the fountains spraying up from the middle of the water. There are mature trees that provide plenty of shade, plus picnic tables and benches where you can have a picnic or take in the scenery. There is a paved walking path that winds around the eastern perimeter of the park. For an extra-long walk, stay on the path as it heads north through a grassy greenbelt that runs through this lovely residential area.

This newly developed, pleasant residential area is home to the 13-acre Folsom Park, one of Prosper’s larger outdoor recreation spaces. You and your leashed dog can see it all by hopping on the one-mile paved trail that loops around the perimeter of this beautiful grassy park, and around the north side of the puptacular pond. There’s usually ducks hanging out, so be prepared for your pooch to perk up when you get there! You and Fido can take a longer stroll by staying on the path as it heads northeast through a grassy greenway that runs between the neighborhood homes to another pond.

You and your pup will love strolling on the .58-mile paved hiking and biking path that makes a small loop around the meadow and a larger loop through the trees. This neighborhood’s Eagles Landing Park is a pawpular place for dog walking because of the paved half-mile path that loops through this 7.6-acre park. If you and your leashed pup prefer to stick to the grass, there’s plenty of that, too! There is a huge multi-purpose grassy field where you and your dog can stretch your legs and play, plus a wooded area bordering the south end of the loop. If you’ve brought the rest of the family along, there’s lots of amenities for them too, including baseball, softball and t-ball fields and a basketball court. There are also portable restrooms in this park.
