North Wellsville
If your pup is in the mood for a mellow walk in nature, then Black Willow Pond is just the place. Surrounded by shrubs and native plants, the pond is a beautiful respite from everyday life. A paved trail circles the pond and a scenic bridge lets your pup get a close look at the water. The trail is only a half mile, so it won’t tucker your pal out, but it will give them a chance to breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors. The Wellsville Mountains make a gorgeous backdrop, and the birds add to the park’s charm. Keep in mind dogs must be leashed while on the trail.

South Wellsville
Wellsville City Park is the perfect spot to spend some quality time with your furry BFF. This park definitely has something for everyone, whether you have two legs or four. The Wellsville Reservoir is the main feature of the park. With puptacular docks and plenty of fish, it draws out the local anglers. If your pup isn’t interested in casting a line, follow the trail around the reservoir so they can get some exercise. As they trot along, your pal can soak in the beautiful views of the Wellsville Mountains. The north corner of the park has a ball field and playground. After your dog’s workout, let them cool down with a stroll around the open lawn area.

West Hyrum
Just 10 minutes east of Wellsville is the City Square Park in the town of Hyrum. Grab the leash and head over to this green space for a delightful afternoon walk with your doggo. The large grass area would make any pup wag their tail. Let your pooch meander around at their own speed and check out all the new smells. There are also a few paved walking paths you can hop on for a more structured workout. When your pup needs to rest their paws, take a break at the gazebo. Be sure to bring a clean up bag and pick up whatever your pooch puts down!

East Hyrum
Looking for a new place to walk your furry sidekick? East Park is a quick 10 minutes away in Hyrum. Sprawling across 17.5 acres and chock full of amenities, it’s easy to see why this park is a community favorite. Ball fields, tennis courts, a playground, and rodeo grounds bring out the resident fun seekers. Your doggo will love cruising around the large lawn or barking up a shade tree. For a change of scenery, hop over to Blacksmith Fork Park. It’s basically a playground surrounded by undeveloped fields. Your pup’s sniffer will go wild as they wander through the tall grass.
Blacksmith Fork Canyon
Next time your canine buddy needs a walk, drive 15 minutes to CCC Camp at the mouth of Blacksmith Fork Canyon in Hyrum. This is a large group campsite, but it is also has access to the Blacksmith Fork River Trail. Your doggo will love trotting along this riverside trail as it crosses through rock piles, grassy meadows, and wooded areas. This out and back trail heads up the canyon for about four miles. Be prepared for a steep section through the trees. If your pup doesn’t feel like going the whole way, there’s a good turn around point about half way up the trail. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water and some snacks, of course!
