Pine Hill Park covers a whopping 325 acres of trails, perfect for hiking with Fido. There are varying difficulty ratings here, so there is something for every pup! These shared trails run for a total of 16 miles and are used by bicyclers, runners and walkers, so it is best to keep your pup on leash throughout. Hop on the Carriage or Redfield Trails which are converted logging roads for a pawtastc adventure!

Southwest Rutland

Visit Main Street Park in Rutland, 4 miles east of West Rutland, for some pawtastic time with your pup. Here you will find lots of green areas, just perfect for relaxing the day away. Mendon

In the town of Mendon, 12 miles northeast of West Rutland, the Aitken State Forest is a hiking extravaganza for your pawtastic pup! There are 918 acres waiting for you and lots of trails, each offering different fitness-level pups a fun experience. For the beginner pup, take the trails which offer flat terrain, or take the Bald Mountain Trail, which is 3.5 miles in length and rated as moderate to challenging. It climbs to great vistas, offering spectacular views of the surrounding areas. You can view the Green Mountains and and Cold River valleys, so don’t forget to pack your camera!

Wallingford

In the Wallingford neighborhood, of the town of Wallingford, 12 miles south of West Rutland, Stone Meadow Park features walking trails, suitable for all fitness-level pups. Enjoy the day strolling through the area and along the lake. These trails feature a collection of honey bee hives which you can enjoy - at a slight distance! Take your canoe for a spin on Otter Creek and Fido can take a dip here if he gets hot! Sports courts, fields, and a playground round out the amenities here. Afterwards, why not head to Sal’s South for some homemade Italian pup-friendly patio dining!
