Everybody knows that dogs and parks are a match made in heaven. So make your pup’s day by taking them for a walk in Horner Park. Nestled in the Irving park neighborhood, it is one of the North Side’s most spacious parks. With 55 acres to explore, your pooch is going to be pretty busy!
To get your pup’s heart pumping, walk, jog, or run around
the park’s paved path. It forms a giant figure eight and is a pupular spot for
dog walking. You may also encounter cyclists or people on roller blades, so
make sure your pup minds their leash manners and yields as appropriate. A couple
laps around the park will definitely give your pup a great workout.
Besides a furrific walking path, Horner Park has large fields.
So if aimlessly wandering around the lawn is more your pup’s style, they are in
luck. Throughout the year, these open grass areas are put to great use. The
park hosts seasonal events like a pumpkin patch, movies, concerts, and even the
ever pupular Doggie Egg Hunt. Be sure to mark that on your calendar, your pup
won’t want to miss out!
Horner Park features a dozen ball fields, soccer fields,
four basketball courts, and five tennis courts. No wonder the local athletes
love this place! There’s also a playground and a lovely nature area that your
pooch will want to check out. And with 13 picnic tables, it’s a pawfect place
to enjoy some outdoor lunch with your pal.
Remember, that everyone loves a nice smelling park. So be
sure to bring some clean up bags from home and stoop and scoop when necessary.
Also, your pup would be most grateful if you carried plenty of water and didn’t
let them go thirsty. No bones about it, your furry friend will go mutts for
