Mokuleia

Only three miles out of Waialua in Mokuleia, Fido will love hiking The Kealia Trail. This moderate 7.6-mile trail takes you through the Kuaokala Forest Reserve. With an out and back trail route, you and Fido will journey through beautiful wild flowers and get a lovely view of the ocean. There's a 2516-foot elevation gain and it will work up a sweat, meaning it may not be the best choice for beginners. The hike can be rocky at some points, so you may want to consider using dog shoes to help protect Fido's paws. The trail is popular among other hikers, runners, and horseback riders, so you and Fido don't need to worry about getting lost. 

Haleiwa

If hunger strikes while you and Fido are hanging around Haleiwa, just two miles out of Waialua, stop into the Beet Box Cafe and grab a bite to eat. They offer health conscious vegan and vegetarian food with all day breakfast and lunch options. If Fido is looking for a little more protein, check out Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. This food truck offers simple but flavorful food including shrimp scampi, lemon butter shrimp, or a jumbo garlic hot dog. Killer Tacos Incorporated dishes out Mexican inspired tacos with a local flare. With taco options like chicken, fish, or beeg, Fido will be licking his chops to get a bite. All of these pawsome eateries offer dog friendly patios.

Pupukea

Located on the outskirts of nearby Haleiwa, the Pupukea-Paumalu Trail offers 9.4-miles of rolling terrain and three gulches that Fido can run through while hiking. On this trail, you will adventure through the Pupukea-Paumalu Forest Reserve that will offer you beautiful wildflowers, native plants, and a 300-foot bluff. You and Fido can enjoy your walk through this forest in peace since no motorized vehicles are allowed in or around the reserve. With a 2030-foot elevation gain, you and Fido will be getting a good workout in while you explore. Offering a loop trail type, it will be impossible for the two of you to get lost. Remember to bring plenty of water with you!

Lehiwa Dr / Meheula Pky

Only twelve miles out of Waialua in Miliani, the Mililani Dog Park is a fantastic spot to go if you are trying to escape the busy beaches and craving some off leash time with your pup. This pawsome dog park includes benches for owners, trees for shade, and a doggie water fountain in case you furget water. The dog park is made up of a mixture of grass and dirt, and is more then big enough for all sized dogs to play together. The park is also double gated, so if you have an escape artist, you don't need to worry. Your pup is going to love coming to this dog park for socializing and off leash fun.

Wahiawa Town Center

Wahiawa is a great spot to stop into a grab a bite to eat with your furry pal by your side. Only eight miles out of Waialua, Wahiawa has great food options like Teddy's Bigger Burgers Wahiawa. They offer classic American comfort food with a spin on their burgers. Try the Kilauea Fire burger or the Bleu Wave. Maui Mike's Fire-Roasted Chicken dishes out mouth watering fire-roasted chicken with a laid back atmosphere. They offer chicken sandwiches with amazing sides. Green World Farms is a coffee farm that sits on 2,000-acres filled with Arabica coffee trees. They offer delicious coffee and tea plus Fido can join you in their shop. All of these great eateries offer dog friendly patios and allow Fido to join your for a meal or drink.
