Minutes from the Hauula Reserve, the beaches here are just teeming with dog-friendly sights and smells that will have both of your tails wagging all day long! You can enjoy fun in the sun and surf at Aukai Beach. Dogs are welcome here off-leash as long as you have plenty of waste bags to keep the gorgeous sand clean for the next visitor! You can hop over to North Shore Tacos for a fusion of local and mainland flavor everyone can appreciate. If you are looking for more tradition, Papa Ole’s Kitchen will have just the thing!

Punaluu

Punaluu is a beautiful seaside getaway to the east of Hauula. This town is known for beautiful beaches that welcome those on two and four legs during all seasons of the year! If you are looking for the perfect spot to park in the sand, the Punaluu Beach Park is a local favorite. You can enjoy the scenery here and grab a bite to eat with your dog in tow at the Shrimp Shack. This seafood joint has the freshest seafood around and is the very last word on classy but comforting fish and shrimp dishes. You will eat your fill here, so be ready for a slow walk afterwards!

Laie

Laie is a hub of green on the edge of the island. This place is a sight for sore eyes and a smell for sore noses. You can visit one of the many parks in this community from the Laie Point State Wayside to the Hukilau Beach Park for seaside adventures that will leave you covered in towels and drenched in fun at the end of the day. If you are after a scenic hike, head over to Laie Falls for a spectacular view you will not soon forget. Don’t forget the selfie-stick – and the waste bags! You wouldn’t want to ruin the sights for the next visitors after you!

Kahuku

Kahuku is just sixteen minutes north of Hauula and is well worth the trip for the drive alone, much less what awaits you when you arrive! The town is aglow with beach campgrounds for travelers from all walks of life. You will love every minute of your stay here while you journey from campgrounds to the main strip with plenty of dining options that will welcome your furry friends to the table! Giovanni’s Aloha Shrimp and the Famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck will both offer you trademark seafood that is so fresh your mouth won’t know what to do! Your dog would love a small bite too, if you can bring yourself to share!

Kaaawa

Kaaawa is just ten minutes south of Hauula and is pawfect for those who love to hike as much as they love to swim! Both hikers and sniffers will love the Crouching Lion Hike, or the Ahupua’s ‘O Kahana State Park trails with options for every level and interest! If your dog likes to run alongside you on a bike through terrain, you will find local bike rentals near the Ka’A’awa Beach Park. The Kapa ‘ele’ele Trail is yet another sniff-tastic sight to explore with your dog, offering streams, waterfalls, rock formations, and tons of local flowers that neither nose will soon forget!
