Downtown St Louis
This Midwestern city is located along the Illinois/Missouri state line, which is just a short 4.5 miles across the Mississippi River from Lovejoy. Lucas Park Dog Park is an off-leash, fenced dog park that requires an annual membership to use. This helps to ensure that all pups in the park are up to date on their vaccinations and insured. The park also includes fun doggie toys, water, a kiddie pool, and a waste station! City Garden is a very special feature in the area; it is a beautiful community garden that has interactive water structures and sculptures. Dogs are allowed to explore the gardens; however, they are not allowed in the pools.

This community is technically located in another state; however, it is just 4 miles from Lovejoy and it is extremely accessible from Interstate 70, Interstate 44, and Interstate 64! Murphy Park, Loretta Hall Park, Columbus Square Park, and Norman Seay Park are great spaces to take your leashed pup on a walk, or to spend a fun afternoon picnicking or barbequing. Forest Park is an exceptional public space where you can walk your dog on one of their scenic walking trails and take in the beautiful views and landscape. If you’re looking for dog-friendly lodging accommodations, privately owned properties listed by owners and via Airbnb offer rentals that welcome dogs.24
Madison
This neighborhood is located in Illinois where it overlooks the Mississippi River and the Illinois/Missouri border and provides plenty of residential housing communities. Wilson Park is a well-kept park that has great landscaping, swimming pool, ice rink, baseball fields and walkways; dogs that are kept on leash are allowed on the premises, just make sure to clean up after them to keep this park looking gorgeous! Don Chencho Restaurant caters to canines, and Madison Airbnb rentals have dog-friendly listings so you and your pooch won’t be left out in the cold.

Collinsville
Twenty minutes east from Lovejoy, the Collinsville neighborhood offers quick and easy access to Interstate 55 and Interstate 55. The Madison County Transit Schoolhouse Trail is a great place to take Fido for a stroll and take in some history! This trail used to be an old railroad system that has been recently converted into a useable walking path thanks to the nationwide efforts of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. There are several local eateries that cater to dogs, including Fazzi’s, Sonic’s Drive-In, and Kruta Collinsville Bakery! If you and Fido are needing somewhere to count some sheep, Drury Inn, Americas Best Value Inn, Comfort Inn, The Double Tree, and La Quinta Inn can accommodate you.
Glen Carbon
This community rests 20 minutes away from Lovejoy, and it sounds like it could have been named after a fictional chemist. However, in all seriousness, this locale is extremely accessible, dog-friendly and intimate! The Madison County Transit Nickel Plate Trail and the Glen Carbon Heritage Bike Trail are great spaces for you and your pup to get some cardio and vitamin D; both trails are part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy project that turns old, decrepit railroad tracks and transforms them into useable recreational paths! Citizen Park, Miner Park, Greenspace North Park, and Greenspace East Park allow leashed dogs to stroll their sidewalks and open spaces.
