Seven minutes southeast of town, the Wingfoot Lake State Park offers boating and fishing in addition to an excellent dog park. There are two fenced in areas where pups can run around and socialize, and you will even find water and bowls in the park. You can spend some time letting Fido run around and socialize with his friends while you sit on a bench and chat with other puppy parents. After hanging out in the dog park, take your pooch for a stroll along the nature paths. Springfield Bog Metro Park is in the same neighborhood and provides a place to walk Fido and enjoy the day. Trails are well-maintained and easy for kids to hike.

Countryside

The Cherokee Park Co is a fun campground where Fido can run and play in the outskirts of Mogadore. The campsites are large, and the campers and their pups are friendly. There are 50 acres of space where you can stroll with your pooch through the wooded area, and Fido will have a snifftastic time in the plants and trees. Another camp option is Countryside Campground near the Mogadore Reservoir. There are large well-maintained campsites where you can spend time with your pooch on a leash. There is even a small dog park where Fido can run around and socialize with other pups.

Sawyerwood

Springfield Lake Park is just 4 miles east of town on Canfield Road in Akron. The paths along the lake are perfect for walking with your pooch and admiring the sunset over the water. If you are out with the kids, you can watch them play on the playground while Fido rolls around in the grass. You can stroll along the well-maintained path, or hang out in the shaded gazebo. You can even lay a blanket on the banks of the lake and spend some time fishing. Fido will love sniffing all of the plants along the lake and remember to bring along some doggie waste bags.

Ellet

Nature trails, a picnic area, and a small creek are all key features of Hyre Park in the Ellet neighborhood of Akron. The park is just three miles west of Mogadore, and you and Fido can walk along the nature trail or check out the community center. If you walk around the track twice it is 1.5 miles, so you can count your laps and record your exercise. The picnic table is perfect if you need to rest and enjoy a snack with your pooch. Fido will enjoy sniffing the trees and plants, just be sure to bring some doggie waste bags and clean up.

Ellet/ Goodyear Heights

Hiking, fishing, and picnicking are just a few of the pooch-friendly features of Goodyear Heights Metro Park. With over 400 acres of space, there is plenty of room for you and Fido to hike and explore the natural area. The Alder Trail travels through the woods to the pond and covers about a half-mile. This is a perfect path for both strollers and wheel chairs and Fido will have a furtastic time. The Piney Woods Trail wanders through a variety of large trees, and your pooch will love sniffing the black cherries, tulip trees and oaks. You will need to keep Fido on a leash so he can socialize with other pups in the park.
