October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month, with Pit Bull Awareness Day on the 23rd, and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the dogs who are often misunderstood and even banned in some states. Aside from spending time with Pitties at your local animal shelter, following Pit Bull accounts on Instagram is another way to learn more about the breed. Many Pittie parents do a great job of showing people that Pit Bulls make wonderful companions and can be just as friendly, affectionate, playful, smart, and pawsome as other canines. Here are 10 Pit Bull Instagram accounts to check out!
Tubs is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier from Australia who has gained fans around the world for her super friendly personality. Videos of her standing in her front yard waiting for pats from passersby have been viewed millions of times on social media. Seeing Tubs greet each person who stops by so enthusiastically is guaranteed to brighten anyone’s day, so be sure to give this affectionate pup a follow!
Need some inspiration on your feed? Check out Destiny the Pibble’s account! Adopted from Tulsa Animal Welfare, the former stray was diagnosed with an incurable autoimmune disease called masticatory muscle myositis, but that doesn’t stop her from living a happy and healthy life. Follow Destiny to see her dressing up in different outfits, “assisting” her mom in the kitchen, and helping other dogs in need.
Sometimes mistaken for a Corgi or Dachshund mix due to his short legs, the aptly named Shorty is a Pit Bull mix who makes up for in cuteness what he lacks in height. Shorty’s Instagram account is filled with photos of him being a natural in front of the camera, whether he’s hanging out with his canine buddies, exploring the outdoors, or just relaxing at home.
Many dogs on Instagram are already adults, but Spyro is starting young. Born as the runt of a small litter in May 2022, this American Staffordshire Terrier/Cane Corso mix from Tennessee loves cuddling with his mom and annoying his big sister. Follow this adorable pup to watch him grow up!
Luna the red and white Pittie isn’t called the jumping queen for nothing—she loves bouncing on her trampoline, and makes it look easy! Though she had to take a break last year due to TPLO surgery, Luna is back to her favorite activity every day. The athletic pup is also a fashionista and can be seen sporting a variety of scarves and bows on her Instagram account.
Trip is a special pup with a unique smile. He was born with a triple cleft palate that can sometimes make him look mean or angry, but looks can be deceiving and the rescue Bully is actually a big sweetheart and mama’s boy. Trip and his family use social media to educate people that dogs with deformities can be beautiful and deserve to be loved too!
Who doesn’t love a good comeback story? Finnley the red nose Pittie was found and rescued three years ago from a horrible situation. After four years of abuse and almost two and a half years at the shelter, Finnley finally found his forever home and is living his best life. Follow this handsome boy and see him get spoiled regularly with toys and treats!
Dog lovers who are also outdoor enthusiasts will want to check out Bub and Simon’s account. Bub, a former bait dog, and Simon, who was also neglected, were both saved from euthanasia, and now these Bully brothers are enjoying life as they should. Since they live in a national park with their parents, they go on a lot of hikes and do a ton of exploring!
