Dog Areas in Babylon

3 Eateries

There are ten towns in Suffolk County, New York, and one of them is known as Babylon. It has a population of over 214,000 people, and it's only 20 miles from New York City. The town's history dates back to 1710 when Babylon was known as Huntington South. "The New Babylon" was inscribed in the chimney of the first home built in the area. In 1830, Huntington South was officially known as Babylon, and the town has been growing ever since. Today, it's a great place to live and play with your pets, and there are several veterinary offices in and around the area.

One of the dog-friendly attractions in Babylon is the Tres Palms eatery. It's a casual place with delicious food and drinks that is a staple in Babylon. They have seven outdoor tables that welcome dogs, so you don't need to leave Rover at home when you head out for a bite. This waterfront bar and eatery offers dishes like a Fiesta grilled cheese sandwich or grilled shrimp pinchos and wash them down with a refreshing Bloody Goose cocktail. Once you get a taste of Babylon, you'll see why so many dog owners love to call it home!

There is also a workout trail with exercise stations so you can get your workout done right alongside your dog. If you happen to forget waste bags or water, this park offers both, so you're all set up for a pawfect trip to the park with your pup.

Huntington, New York is just a hop, a skip, and a jump from Babylon, and a 25-minute drive will get you and your pooch to the West Hills area where you'll find the Walt Whitman Trail. This 4.25-mile trail is an easy hike for you and your dog to do together, but they must be on a leash. You are likely to come across some other four-legged creatures, as many people like to ride horses on this trail as well. You may need to dodge a few, ahem, messes that horses make along the trail, but this scenic hike is worth a little side-stepping.

This fenced-in dog run is known for being well-maintained, and there is plenty of shade for hot days as well as seating for pet owners. Across the street from the dog park is a separate park with flowers and fountains that is also a nice place to walk your dog, but they have to be on a leash unless they're in the dog park area.

The Blydenburgh County Park is located in central Hauppauge and it's a 627-acre park with hills and valleys galore, and in the center of the park there is a lake known as Stump Pond. Your dog can join you anywhere in the park as long as they are on a leash, but there is also a separate two-acre area further divided into two areas where dogs of different sizes are welcome to play off their leash. The dog park also features drinking water for humans and for dogs, so you'll be all set when either of you need to hydrate and take a break from playing.
