North Richmond Hill
North Richmond Hill is home to the green and spacious Forrest Park. The park contains two pawesome off leash dog areas -- one in the park proper, and another at the Forrest Park Overlook. The Forrest Park Dog Run, by the Woodhaven side of the park, is a pup’s paradise, with a doggie obstacle course and plenty of toys. There’s a separate area for large and small dogs, and there are water bowls available, but owners have to bring their own H2O. Overlook Park is smaller and a mixed area for large and small dogs, but no less charming, and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city while your pooch tires themselves out!

South Richmond Hill
While Phil Rizzuto Park is much smaller than Forrest Park, and has no dedicated off-leash dog area, it does have the advantage of being in walking distance from Richmond Hill. There’s still plenty for you and your pooch to see and do, though. While the main draw of the park for locals is its sports facilities, dogs are allowed on the fields as long as no one is playing, and the perimeter of the park is great for leashed walking! There are plenty of seats for owners, and trees provide shade for dogs in the summer. There are trash cans provided, but be sure to bring your own water and poo bags!

Forrest Hills
Bordered to the south by Forest Park, Forest Hills is a true haven for dog owners. Located three miles from Richmond Hill, the area is home to the mutts-visit Underbridge Dog Run. Large and spacious, with separate areas for large and small dogs and plenty of toys, your pooch is certain to get a real workout! The Underbridge Dog Run also has a bridge over to the Flushing Meadows Corona Park, one of the largest parks in the city. Leashed dogs are welcome on many of the scenic, shaded pathways, and all along the Meadow Lake Trail, a tranquil walk that boasts lovely lakeside views.

Fresh Meadows
If you can make the four miles to Fresh Meadows, it would be a huge faux-paws not to give the Cunningham Park Dog Run a visit. This excellent dog park has two doggie drinking fountains and two large runs -- one for large dogs and one for small dogs -- so your pooch can socialize no matter their size! While you’re in the area, you may want to take a leashed stroll through Cunningham Park to get to the excellent Greek Family Eats on the other side of the park. Technically located in nearby Hollis Hills, this restaurant welcomes dogs in their outdoor seating area. On a summer day, they’ll even provide water!

Sunnyside
Sunnyside is located six miles away from Richmond Hill, but the area’s two furrific dog parks makes it well worth the trip! The Lou Lodatti Dog Park at the corner of 43rd Street and Skillman Avenue has separate areas for large and small dogs, plenty of seating, and bathrooms for owners located near the entrance. The Sherry Park Dog Run on Queens Boulevard has much more room for your pooch to play in, but it's a mixed area, so be mindful of your pup’s temperament. Keep in mind as well that the water is shut off in the winter -- you may need to bring your own bottle!
