Stephens City is a small community located in Frederick County. This charming colonial town dates back to the 1730s, and is one of the oldest municipalities in the area. It has been called many names over the years, like Stephensburg and Newtown, before it finally ended up as Stephens City.  With the Shenandoah Valley as its backyard, it’s no wonder this town is adored by the local pups.

Canine health is a top priority for folks living in Stephens City. Although their town isn’t very large, four legged residents have access to three top notch veterinary clinics. Animal Medical Clinic of Frederick County provides wellness exams, dental services, and even herbal medicine. Stephens City Animal Hospital offers full service veterinary care as well as surgical and advanced care. In addition to these, Newtown Veterinary Clinic also has your pup’s wellbeing in mind. With an in house laboratory and pharmacy, you know you’ll get quick results.

When visiting Stephens City, book a room at the local Comfort Inn. For just a small fee, two pets up to 100 pounds can stay the night. Your pup can drift off to dream land in one of the cozy pet friendly rooms. Its convenient location makes this a pupperific place to stay.

It’s no secret dogs and parks are a perfect pair. Be your pup’s hero and treat her to an afternoon in Sherando Park. This park spans 330 acres, and has beautiful open spaces and lovely gardens. In addition to a large fishing pond, the park features three hiking trails. Clip on your dog’s leash and head out for some exercise. One of the trails circles the park and clocks in at 1.2 miles. The other two are .4 and .8 miles. You can either take a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk, whatever your pooch is in the mood for. Just be sure to give her a big drink of cold water when you are finished.
