Less than two miles north of Stephenson, the community of Clear Brook includes some farms, single-family homes, a limestone quarry, and a shopping center. There are quiet country roads in the area where you and Fido can get your exercise. This 55-acre facility includes a walking path, picnic areas, and a three-acre fishing pond. Enjoy a jog through the area with your fur baby, then share a snack at one of the tables. Dogs on a leash up to six feet long are allowed to join you in designated areas of the park. Make sure you bring waste bags and clean up any messes.

Shenandoah University

Shenandoah University

The neighborhood around Shenandoah University in Winchester is about seven miles south of town. This area features single-family homes, shopping areas, two parks, and a preserve. Just north of campus, you'll find Jim Barnett Park. This large facility includes a fitness trail, disc golf course, picnic areas, and an off-leash dog park. Treat your special pal to some socialization with other canines. There are tables, separate areas for large and small dogs, and agility equipment here. You'll need to purchase an annual membership and provide proof of vaccinations and license to access the off-leash area. Remember to clean up after your pooch.

Kernstown

Kernstown

You'll find Kernstown about 11 miles south of Stephenson. This suburb of Winchester includes private residences, corporate offices, a shopping district, and an entertainment complex. Grab dinner and a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. When you want to spend some time with your fur baby, plan a hike at The Kernstown Battlefield off Battle Park Drive. This historic site is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from mid-May through October. There are trails with interpretive signs here where you and your special pal can go for a walk. Make sure you keep your pup on a leash and clean up after him.

Ash Hollow Estates is a development in northern Winchester that's about five miles from Stephenson. There are multiplexes and single-family homes in this area. You'll find sidewalks here where you and Spot can enjoy a stroll together. If you're looking for a natural setting to get some exercise with your pooch, head to Third Winchester Battlefield off Winchester Road. Hike or jog along the five mile interpretive trail with your four-footed friend. The pathway leads through woods and fields on the historic property. Dogs can join you here as long as they're on a leash and under your control. Bring waste bags and water.

Battlefield Estates

About ten miles southeast of town, you'll find the neighborhood of Battlefield Estates in Berryville. This community includes a high school, single-family homes, and the Clark County Fairgrounds. In this area, you can enjoy a personal getaway at the Historic Rosemont Manor B&B. When you're looking for some open space to get fresh air with your canine companion, take him to Chet Hobert Park off Main Street. This 102-acre facility has athletic fields, picnic areas, and a fitness trail. Go walking or jogging on the two-mile pathway with your pup. Dogs on a leash are welcome to join you here.
