Central Newport

Central Newport is a wonderful place where you will find green grass and open spaces for you and Sparky to run around and play in all day long. If you are looking for a spot to visit after a long day at work, Remmel Park is one wooftastic option. You will need your waste bags and plenty of energy to keep up with your dog. Lockwood Park is an amazing choice as well if you need a park where leashed pets are welcome to visit with their two-legged companions for some fun in the sun. Just make sure you clean up behind yourselves!

Jacksonport

Jacksonport is just a few minutes to the west of Newport. This small community is home to the Jacksonport State Park. This state park offers everything from hiking to fishing and kayaking spots for the nature lover in all of us. Your dog will have plenty of places to sniff around while you relax and recharge. The White River is right on the edge of the state park and definitely worth a stop while you are in the area. This river rushes right through the middle of town and flows all the way down to Newport. You may want to keep a harness handy while exploring this pawesome area.

Central Diaz

Central Diaz is just a few minutes to the north of Newport. It is well worth visiting if you have some fur babies with some extra energy. This community is home to George Kell Park. If you want an open green area where you can hang out in the grass with your dog for a game of fetch or even a picnic, you will find plenty of room to do that in this lovely little park. Just make sure you have plenty of doggy clean-up bags so that you can tidy up behind yourselves before you head back home or out on the rest of your pupperific adventures.

Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald is a neighborhood in the upper west corner of Diaz. This community is a quiet place to call home if you want to stay just a few minutes from Newport. Diaz City Park is a small but fun green space just a few minutes from Fitzgerald. You will find plenty of room to run around with your dog and burn off all of that extra steam after a long week. Just keep waste bags with you and make sure your dog is on-leash while exploring. Bergen Lake is right in the neighborhood as well if the weather is hot and you need a puptastic place to beat the heat.

Bayou De View State Wildlife Management Area

About forty minutes to the east of Newport is the amazing and expansive Bayou De View State Wildlife Management Area. This natural area and park is a tail-waggin' treat in the making if you want to go for a walk, a hike, or a dip in one of the rivers or lakes throughout the park. A harness is recommended for easy hiking for your pooch. Make sure you have waste bags in your pack as well so that you can clean up behind your pup after stopping for a rest. Snacks are always a great idea for both you and Spot!
