The heart of Florida's Forgotten Coast, Eastpoint is just a bridge crossing away from the City of Apalachicola and Saint George Island. Like the other communities on the Forgotten Coast, Eastpoint is relatively undeveloped, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a quieter way of living. There is one animal clinic in Eastpoint to make sure that the community's critters stay happy and healthy.
Be a responsible dog parent by taking your pup out for daily walkies! One place to do that in Eastpoint is Vrooman Park on Sixth Street. This park contains a paved walking track with exercise equipment, which is pawfect for staying in shape with your dog.
Another spot for walks is the Indian Creek Park & Public Boat Ramp on North Bayshore Drive. This park is located on the water, so you and Fido can take a leisurely stroll on the beach while looking out onto the East Bay.
If you need to eat out with Fido in tow, head to the Red Pirate Family Grill & Oyster Bar. This relaxed eatery has an outdoor dining area where your pooch can join you as you dig into American fare.
Visit Eastpoint with Fido and see the untouched side of Florida for yourself!
Traveling around Eastpoint in an RV? Then park your vehicle at the Coastline RV Resort! Centrally located on Highway 98, this 5-star RV park features 30 spacious sites in an Old Florida setting, with each site offering puptacular views of the bay. Modern amenities include full hookups, a clubhouse, an outdoor swimming pool, and laundry facilities. The Coastline RV Resort welcomes canine companions and even has a fenced bark park where four-legged guests can run and play off-leash. Outside the bark park, dogs must remain on a 6-foot leash at all times. Always clean up after your pooch and don't leave them unattended outside your vehicle!
If your pup wags their tail at the sight of the ocean, take them to Saint George Island, where dogs of all sizes are allowed on the public beach. Saint George Island is very accessible from Eastpoint—just an easy, 7-minute drive across the bridge connecting the two communities. Canine beachgoers are free to explore the area as long as they are leashed or under voice control. The beach includes covered pavilions where you and Fido can rest and watch the world go by, and doggie waste bags and fresh water are provided near the Cape Saint George Lighthouse. While furry visitors are not allowed inside the lighthouse, they are welcome to admire this historic structure from the outside!
An outdoor adventure awaits you and your pooch at the Saint George Island State Park! About 10 miles from Eastpoint, this park is known for its miles of pristine, undeveloped beaches that attract swimmers and sunbathers. The beach is off-limits to dogs, however, but Fido is permitted on the campground, paved surfaces, and nature trails. One of the trails, which start at the campground, will take you and your furry pal through pine flatwood forest all the way up to Gap Point. This trail is connected to the shorter East Slough Overlook Trail, which features boardwalks and benches. Trailhead kiosks provide information about the current trail conditions and local flora and fauna.
The western part of nearby Apalachicola is home to a park that's especially for four-legged residents and visitors. An 11-minute drive from Eastpoint, the Apalachicola Dog Park is a 2-acre, fenced-in area where Fido can make new friends and run off-leash. This dog park is divided into three sections; in addition to the usual big and small dog areas, a third area is allocated for puppers or people with special needs, such as a senior pooch or an individual with a handicap. Each section is equipped with double gates, seating, water, and trash receptacles, while the large and small dog sections share a shade structure.
Take your best friend for a leashed walk along the Apalachicola River at Battery Park. Located in the town of Apalachicola, Battery Park is just 9 minutes away from Eastpoint. Let your pup sniff and explore the grassy areas, and watch the boats coming in and out of the docks as you stroll on the fishing piers. If you get hungry from walking around, there are a few dog-friendly eateries in the area, including Boss Oyster. Less than half a mile from Battery Park, this seafood restaurant has a large, covered patio that overlooks the water and welcome furry patrons.
