Downtown Perry
Explore Perry's historic downtown district with your pooch by going on a self-guided walking tour! Simply follow the directional signs to navigate your way around the area. Some of the historic points of interest that you and Fido will encounter include Perry Office Supply, whose building originally housed the First National Bank and then later the city's first indoor theater; Perry Historic Station, a former train depot that has been renovated into a retail space; and the First United Methodist Church, whose roots can be traced back all the way to 1870. The walking trail starts and ends at the City Park, and covers 1.2 miles.

South Perry
The southern part of Perry is where you'll find a few pet-friendly hotels that you and your pooch can call home for a night or two. One of these establishments is the Rodeway Inn, which welcomes two pets up to 25 pounds for an extra fee. Rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable, microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee/tea makers for your convenience. If you need to eat out, Mama's Italian Family Restaurant is only a couple of minutes from the hotel. Outdoor seating is provided out front, so Fido can tag along while you grab lunch or dinner. Other dog-friendly accommodations in the area include the Days Inn and Econo Lodge.

West Perry
Leash up for a walkie with your best friend at the Gerald B. Walker Park on Warner Avenue! This park contains the usual amenities of most city parks, such as a playground, basketball court, benches, and picnic shelters. Most importantly, there are open grassy areas for Fido to sniff, and plenty of room for walking around and tiring your pup out. Bring snacks to munch on under the picnic shelters so you and your pooch can refuel before heading back home. It's probably best to drop by in the early morning or early evening, as there isn't much shade at the Gerald B. Walker Park.

North Perry
The Veteran's Memorial Park on Jefferson Street is dedicated in memory of the veterans who served in the US Armed Forces. Paved walkways will take you and Fido to various monuments, including an eternal flame made from white marble, a bell tower, and granite walls bearing the names of past and present Taylor County veterans. About 50 benches are scattered throughout the park, giving visitors several places to sit down and relax. For a nice, shady spot, head to the east end of the park and look for the large oak tree with a yellow ribbon. Remember to bring clean-up bags and pick up after your pup!

Southeast Perry
The Forest Capital Museum State Park is a great place to learn about Florida's forest industry, which dates back to the early 1800s. Leashed and well-behaved doggos are welcome at the park, but not allowed inside buildings. Activities that you and Fido can enjoy include admiring the 50-year-old longleaf pines on the museum grounds, having a picnic at one of the three covered pavilions, and viewing the authentic 19th-century Cracker homestead. Need a place to stay near the Forest Capital Museum State Park? The Perry KOA, which is less than a mile away, offers pet-friendly cabins and two play areas for furry guests.
