If you’re just beginning to hike, this trail is a great opportunity to get some experience; it’s mostly flat. Parking is plentiful, and if you left your water at home, no problem! There are vending machines at the entrance. Fido can join you on the trail, but he will need to stay on a leash at all times. Raccoon River is completely fenced in, and there’s a separate area for smaller dogs. You can bring along your dog’s favorite toy as long as he doesn’t get too territorial over it. Make sure to bring water and waste disposal bags along.
