There is a total surface of 850 acres parkland, and the city features 33 miles of recreational trails that are connected with other trails. While there is no off-leash dog park in Urbandale, Iowa, there are a few off-leash dog parks in nearby towns. A great way for dog owners to let their dogs run wild is a visit to the Raccoon River Dog Park in West Des Moines. This 10 acre enclosed dog park offers a ton of amenities and is very well-maintained. Please note that membership is required to enter the park.
The Windsor Heights Dog Park, located at the regional Colby Park, is a free off-leash alternative. This park is smaller than its West Des Moines counterpart but still has plenty of excitement to offer and even has an agility course.
