Windsor Heights

Just 7.7 miles from Orilla is the Windsor Heights neighborhood of good old Des Moines, Iowa. The Clive Greenbelt Trail passes through this neighborhood and gives you plenty of opportunities to walk your dog and enjoy the great outdoors. The trail reaches almost eight miles in length and goes from Windsor Heights to Clive. This neighborhood is also the home of one of Des Moines’ PETCO stores, where you can find all your necessities for your pooch – and he’s welcome to shop with you! There’s also an Extended Stay America hotel here, which allows your pup to join you if you’re just visiting the area.

Beaverdale

Beaverdale in Des Moines sits just about five minutes away from Windsor Heights. This neighborhood is the home of the pupular pet store, Boneapatreat, where you can bring your precious pooch to join you on your shopping trip. From food and treats to collars and toys, you’ll find all your necessities for your favorite furry friend here. Nearby is Michael’s Pizza, which welcomes dogs to join their owners for some of the best pizza your money can buy with all your favorite toppings. Or, try Snookies Malt Shop for some ice cream and other sweet treats that your dog will go mutts for.

East Village

East Village in Des Moines is around 12 miles away from Orilla. This is the place to put your paws if you’re looking for some dog-friendly eateries in Des Moines. Here, your doggie can join you as you browse the local Farmer’s Market on Court Ave., with a wide selection of home-grown goodies from the area’s best farmers.
