“Experienced with training and patient dog lover!”

I’ve been a lifelong dog lover, but my dedication to pups doesn’t just end there! I have over 14+ years of experience as a dog owner or handler. I wouldn’t trade a second of it for anything! I’ve learned so much in the process, and getting to bring happiness to loving pups is always such an amazing experience.

My name is Dala (pronounced Day-la). I have been walking/sitting dogs for three years now and full time for two years. I absolutely love dogs and to be outdoor exercising. Whether your dog just wants company while enjoying the outdoors during the day while you’re at work or they’re trying to get back into shape I would love to be the one that accompanies them!

Just under thirty minutes north of Wick, you’ll find downtown West Des Moines, where plenty of fun awaits you and your pooch. A few local businesses are dog-friendly, and they’re usually marked as such. But if you’re looking to have some serious fun, head to Raccoon River Dog Park. This dog park, an astounding twelve acres, is off-leash and completely fenced in, allowing your dog to safely run around and make new friends. A permit is required to use the park, so make sure you have that worked out before you visit. Make sure to bring along some waste disposal bags, as none are provided.

If your dog loves going for walks and exploring new places, visit South Des Moines! A little under forty minutes from Wick, you’ll find an access point for the Des Moines Trail, which locals say has picturesque views. This trail is great for beginners, as it’s mostly flat. While you want your dog to have fun, make sure he stays on his leash at all times; local wildlife loves exploring the trail just as much as your dog will, and you don’t want anyone getting hurt. There’s plenty of parking available, and there are also vending machines so you can refuel.

The town of Indianola, which is just fifteen minutes west of Wick, has an access point to three separate trails: the Jerry Kelley Trail, the McVay Trail, and the Summerset Trail. All dogs love walks, and in this small town, your options aren’t limited. Each trail is marked with a difficulty level, so there’s something for everyone. While Fido can join you, don’t forget to bring a leash! One is required, and it must be no longer than six feet in length. Make sure to bring along water and waste disposal bags. Get out and get moving!

A little over thirty minutes north of Wick is the East Village neighborhood of Des Moines, where you and Fido will always be able to find something to do together. If you want to be a chow-hound, try Scenic Route Bakery. This bakery serves up delicious soups, salads, and more. Your dog can join you at any of their outdoor tables. If the weather is nice, head over to the farmers’ market. Open on most Saturdays, you can support local farmers, buy fresh produce, and have fun with your pooch all at once! Make sure to bring along a leash and some baggies.

Fifty minutes northeast of Wick is the city of Altoona, where you and Fido can get access to The Gay Lea Wilson Trail. This popular trail is a bit over twenty miles long, meaning you and your dog can go as far as you want! This trail is known for how scenic it is, particularly in the summer. As this trail is mostly flat, it’s fun for all, whether you’re new to hiking or have been doing it for ages. Your dog must stay on his leash, and you’ll need to bring your own waste disposal bags. How far will you get?
