Bement is a village in Illinois located at the heart of Piatt County, with a population of just under 2,000. The tiny town is home to Bryant Cottage, a famous historical landmark in Abraham Lincoln’s career. The Cottage was to be closed; however, it's still open to the public and visitors. The village is 8 minutes south of Monticello, a city with plenty of parks and recreation areas. You will also find an animal hospital in Monticello if you need some vet help.

Robert Milligan Memorial Dog Park is a newly opened playground for pooches just minutes away from Bement! The park, occupying about 2 acres of Monticello, features two fenced enclosures as well as comfortable seating and play equipment -- not to mention that there are always friendly locals eager to befriend your barking buddy!

You may also want to check Allerton Park & Retreat Center. It's a popular local venue with a formal garden and huge natural area! You will find no better place to sniff out with Fido. If your buddy is feeling up to the challenge, you'll pawsitively love the hiking trails! However, keep in mind that this is a public place. Bring a leash, doggie waste bags, and your own drinking water.

History-loving hounds will fall head over paws for Bement, but those looking for some time in the great outdoors will need to travel a little further afield!
