This green neighborhood spot will having your doggo barking for joy since it is all grass. There is also a playground for the kids to enjoy. If you get hungry, head to the Big Fish Bar and grille. This is a dog friendly place where you can tuck into some delicious seafood and your canine can join you at the outdoor tables.

For some fun in the sun with your beloved canine, head to the Channahon Park District Central Park! This is a pawsome place in town where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll on the walking paths with your furry friend, as well as let your pup roll and roam on the grass. There is plenty of open space to play fetch and tug of war; this is sure to burn some excitable energy! Other puptastic amenities here include a playground for the kids, soccer fields, tennis courts, a skate park, volleyball court and baseball fields for having some fun with the family.

Here you can find the Rock Run Rookery Preserve, which is a pawsome place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. This beautiful 224 acre preserve boasts some sniff-tastic trails you can explore with your pooch, as well as two lakes where you can catch channel catfish, bluegill and smallmouth bass. In addition, there is a picnic shelter where you and your dog can enjoy a treat after all that puptastic scouting through nature! All furry friends are welcome at Rock Run Rookery Preserve, as long as they remain on leash.

Shorewood Village Center

Just next door to the north of Channahon, you will find the furrific Shorewood! Here you can visit the pawsome Cene’s Four Seasons Park with your pooch, which has everything your furry friend needs to have fun! There is plenty of open green grass for rolling and roaming, as well as room for playing fetch. There is even enough space to practice some training! You can also wander around the walking path to stretch your pup’s legs. Since there are not any dog friendly hotels in Channahon, you can stay at the Knights Inn in Wilmington, which isn’t far away. You can bring two furry friends to stay of any size for only a small additional fee per night.
