The village borders Fox River to the west and features amenities and local businesses to serve residents’ needs. Schweitzer Woods Forest Preserve is the largest recreation area for pooches in the village. The expansive, lush preserve even has two separate, fenced enclosures for small and large breeds and is open year-round! Not surprisingly, the park is popular -- the best time for socialization will be around 3 p.m. Bring some toys to share, and you'll make some new friends in no time!

West Hoffman Estates

The western region of Hoffman Estates is centered on Summit Street, offering shopping, cultural, and social facilities for locals and visitors. This part of town is also home to two furrific recreation areas: Shoe Factory Road Prairie Nature Preserve and Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve. These two massive parks combine forests, walking trails, and natural landscapes for enjoyable outdoor hiking. Freedom Run Dog Park, on the other hand, is a man-made pet-friendly facility in the heart of the neighborhood. It’s a perfect spot to play off-leash! The area features two separate sections for active and shy pups and has an amazing obstacle course to keep your puppy in shape.

Central Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates’ downtown area offers a variety of small and large public parks and recreational areas with open spaces, walking trails, and plenty of room to explore. You can start with Birch Park and Chino Park, two simple public parks that lack amenities, except for a few benches. These parks are good for leashed, mindful walks and are fairly popular among locals. But if your buddy needs a little more canine cardio, Bo’s Run Dog Park is a small yet fun place to make new friends and play fetch! The park features single fenced area, some natural terrain, and benches and rocks for pet parents to rest on.

Horatio Gardens

Horatio Gardens outlines the eastern border of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and it's located about 40 minutes east of Gilberts via Lake Cook Road. Primarily residential, the area has a few recreational areas, such as Northwood Park, with an open space to explore on-leash. But a true hidden gem for pooches can be found at Happy Tails Dog Park! This is a hot spot for pooches of all sizes and temperaments, and small dogs even get a separate section to themselves. West Glenview

Community Park West is hidden in a convenient area behind North Milwaukee Avenue, making it easily accessible for locals and visitors. Remote from the downtown area, Community Park West is home to several small ponds, fresh air, and baseball fields. There's plenty of open green space for you and Fido to explore here, but your pup must stay on a leash. Need a little more exercise? The dog run within the park is a pawesome place to let your buddy off-leash while you relax on a bench in the shade. This park is pawpular with local dog owners, so you and Fido are sure to make some new friends!
