Hi I'm Natalie! I am a recent college grad and I grew up taking care of pets around the house my whole life, including a dog. Outside of the house, I have volunteered at various animal shelters since I was around 7 years old. In high school and college I was on the boards of the animal care clubs, including being president of the club in college. In these clubs we went to animal shelters weekly to take care of the dogs and cats there. I have also dog-sat for a few different dog owners. If you can't already tell, I love animals like they're my own!

Dog Walking in Huntley

Huntley is a village that lies between McHenry and Kane Counties in Illinois. If you find yourself with your pooch in the Huntley area and you need a place to stay, you should visit the Huntley AirBnB Rentals. The pet fees and the weight limits are determined by the owners of the accommodations, so you should check the pet policy before booking.

If you're hungry and you want to grab a bite or maybe have a cup of coffee along with your four-legged baby, you should visit the Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The Tropical Smoothie Cafe offers healthy meals and numerous smoothies. The best part? It's dog-friendly! Another option is Culver's. This restaurant is also dog-friendly and offers different kinds of meals for every taste. You can dine with your dog at the outdoor seating area.

If you are in need of a veterinarian in the Huntley area, you can visit one of four veterinary practices in the city. These provide both emergency and routine care for visiting and resident animals.

While you are in Huntley, you should visit the Tom's Farm Market and Greenhouses, which offers a farmers market, bakery, garden center, cafe and gift shop.

Huntley doesn't have any dog parks of its own, but you can find one a short drive away in Crystal Lake. Head over to the Hound Town Dog Park, within the larger Lippold Park. The dog park is 3 acres for dogs to play around and socialize off-leash. This is a members-only park, so you'll need to pay a fee to the city parks department before visiting. The park has a large dog area and a small dog area. There are lots of water bowls and waste bags there, so you don't have to worry about remembering to bring any of that. It's very clean and shaded and has benches for the pet owners. All you need to bring is your sense of adventure and Fido's favorite toy!

There are no poop bags provided and no trash stations, so you should be prepared for that. The park is free and there is no permit needed for entering. This 7-acre park was opened in 2014 to give all the pups in the area a place to play off-leash. The park is completely fenced, and if you decide to visit, you should bring your own water. Make sure you bring poop bags as well so you can clean up after your pupper. The permits for residents are $65 and $130 for non-residents. There is a great trail in the vicinity of Huntley called Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve, about 25 miles away from Huntley. The designated off-leash area for dogs in the Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve is fenced on three sides, so if you have a runner, you might want to keep the leash on. The area is open from one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset. You will need a permit to enter the area, which is $40 for residents and $150 for non-residents. But don't worry if you don't want to buy an annual pass; there are daily permits that can be obtained on-site. Dogs are also welcome on the other trails at the preserve, but they must be on-leash. Make sure you bring water and poop bags!
