Growing up, my family had anywhere from 3-7 dogs around all the time and I was involved in their care and training. All of them won obedience trials, hunting tests, and were successful in the show ring; all of which required a lot of training. Starting from around age 9, I handled the dogs in obedience classes and in the show ring, and was an AKC junior handler. Beyond this, I was also often required to take other dogs into the show ring when there was a shortage of handlers around. I have always loved dogs and enjoyed caring for them, and even in college found any excuse to walk or just hang out with my friends' dogs on campus!
