Hi there, I'm Shanna! I have loved having dogs around me all my life, from one grandmother's obedience show dogs to the other grandmother's many adopted strays to the rescued Boxer who was my best friend as a kid, to the goofy fluffball spaniel back home in NH who shuns me whenever I pack to come back to Boston. I personally took both of my dogs through obedience training classes, and worked as a walker and sitter for neighbors for several years. I have been a pet sitter for oodles of other animals, from cats to chickens, and have several years of equestrian work and training experience as well. I can't have a dog with my current work schedule and apartment, so helping your furry friend get some exercise will be a wonderful way for me to get some canine companionship! I can't wait to meet your dog!

Stoughton is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, conveniently located close to the big city of Boston. This means you and your pup can enjoy some peace and quiet while being close to all the amenities you could need! Within this puptown, you can find some great parks and greenery to check out with your canine companion as well. These parks, combined with the veterinary clinic right in Stoughton make it easy to raise a happy, healthy puppy here.
A furtastic way to enjoy the great outdoors with your dog is by exploring the Bird Street Conservation Area. This 580 acre parcel is located in the south end of Stoughton, accessible from West St, and is part of the Stoughton Memorial Conservation Land. Here you can find approximately 10 miles of trails that range from easy to technical, so people and pooches of all fitness levels can join in on the fun! Be sure to keep your dog leashed, and follow the Leave no Trace principles.
If you and your pup want to cool off after all those trails and adventures, head over to Ames Pond! This park is located just across the street from the Bird Street Conservation Area, and allows leashed dogs. Here you can find a refreshing pond to swim in bordered by sand and shade trees. Amenities include restrooms and docks.
With all of these great places to relax in the outdoors, Stoughton is sure to get your dog’s tail wagging!
Stoughton has its share of urban parks spread throughout town as well! In the South Stoughton neighborhood, you can find the beloved Halloran Park. The park features a basketball court, horseshoe pit, a playground and large grassy areas to sniff and play on. Perhaps your puppers favorite part though, will be the quarter mile long lighted walking path that surrounds the park. This walking path is great for a heart pumping jog or a leisurely stroll. If you need to rest your feet, or paws, there some benches along the way. This park welcomes dogs, as long as they stay leashed and are picked up after. Don’t forget the waste bags.
In the neighborhood of Washington St / Plain St, you can find another great treat for you and your dog! Nestled into the scenic Libby Farm Property, is the Bradley Lessa Memorial Playground. This family friendly park has something in it for everyone, including the family dog of course! This park features a playground that you can enjoy with views of cows in the nearby pasture. Here you can also find the Storybrook Trail, which allows you to explore the surrounding conservation lands. The trail works together with the Stoughton Public Library, and offers the unique chance the read a book while relaxing in the beautiful nature. The library rotates the books available throughout the changing seasons. Leashed dogs are welcome!
In the neighboring town of Sharon, you can find another puppy paradise in the City Center! This neighborhood is proud home to the Sharon Dog Park. This dog park is located on the east side of Deborah Sampson Park, just 10 minutes from Stoughton. In this park your doggo can enjoy some off-leash freedom in a safe, fenced in environment! He or she can run, play, and enjoy some pawsitive socialization with the neighborhood pooches. Here you can find drinking water, waste bags, and even toys! All you need to bring is your playful pup. After working up an appetite, head over to Angel’s Cafe, in the same neighborhood. Here you can enjoy some middle eastern cuisine next to your best pal at one of the five outdoor pet friendly tables.
The northern neighbor of Stoughton is the town of Canton. In the Canton Junction / Summer Heights neighborhood you can find some more great things to do with your dog! From here you can access the Warner Trail, just a 15 minute drive from Stoughton. This trail stretches for 30 miles all the way from Sharon to the Diamond Hill State Park in Cumberland, Rhode Island. This woodland trail is isolated and peaceful, just what you need to get a break from the daily grind, or if you’re having a ruff day. If you need some refreshment after, head over to the Canton Junction Sports Bar. Here you can enjoy a cold beer or some pub fare at one of the outdoor dog friendly tables.
In the Massapoag Lake neighborhood of Sharon, you can find the Borderland State Park, about a 20 minute drive from Stoughton, but the drive is worth it! Here you can explore the grounds surrounding a picturesque historique mansion. The park features over 20 miles of trails to explore the wilderness with your pup through peaceful forests and around ponds. The trails range from moderate to difficult. This state park is dog friendly, and even has off-leash sections in two spacious fields! When it’s time to cool off, they can rinse and repeat in the pond. Dogs need to be picked up after, and stay leashed when they’re not in the designated off-leash sections.
