“I love dogs so much that I adopted my own!”

I grew up around dogs and just recently adopted one of my own! I love to walk mine and my family’s dogs around the neighborhood and take them on the occasional hike. My new dog is full of energy so he’ll actually come running with me while I bike! Great with animals and people. I'm a grad student trying to make a little extra money for loan repayment and what better way than to meet and walk some furry friends?! I've worked with dogs of all sizes (5-150 pounds!).

“No dog is too big or small I want to walk them all”

My name is Leigh. I'm a huge animal lover. Growing up my family had black labs that I got to play with and walk often. As an adult, I don't live in a situation where I can have a dog so I'm excited to spend time with your puppy instead.

I am a mega dog (and all pets) lover, but unfortunately cannot have any where I live now...which is why I'd love to "borrow" yours while you are away, and shower them with love and extra-long walks :) Bonus points if your pupper loves long walks, but shorter walks are perfect also. I am as responsible as they come, and can promise that your sweet pets will be given the best care possible, should you allow me to care for them. I work full-time but I am lucky and my work schedule is extremely flexible, allowing for me to give your pets the care they deserve. I am known to go above and beyond, and will be more than mindful of your home as well. Lastly, I fall hard for puppy dog eyes, so you won't have to worry about your pets not getting adequate play time...and treats, where appropriate :)

I have been pet sitting/walking for friends, family, and neighbors for 3 years and on certain occasions I've been a dog boarder for them, but I've been a dog walker for 4 1/2 years. I've been a dog owner until I was 16. Two of the recurring dogs that I pet sit has had health issues, so I'm able to follow strict instructions given by the owners to take care of their pets in the best way possible wither it's just for a walk or pet sitting.

Dog Walking in Chesapeake City

Chesapeake City is a small town in Cecil County, Maryland with plenty of Chesapeake flavor! History buffs love Chesapeake City, as it has a 165-year-old working canal that connects the Chesapeake Bay to the Delaware Bay. Guided tours of the historic district in town are also available, and there are even some all-outdoor tours where well-mannered pups are able to come along!

This area is home to places like Back Creek, which runs through the middle of the town. Your dog will feel right at home sniffing and splashing away by the creek and others nearby. Right outside of town is the Canal Wildlife Management Area, where you will find plenty of hiking and fishing areas where your dog is welcome to join you on-leash. You can bring some other two-legged friends, too, and have a picnic in the open grassy area.

While you are exploring Chesapeake City's history, it is worth sniffing out the restored tobacco plantation that dates back to 1651. Guided tours and self-guided tours of the nature trails are open on certain days of the week all year round as long as the weather is favorable. There is one animal hospital right in Chesapeake City where you will find stellar care to keep your dog happy and healthy at every life stage.

Chesapeake City is a small town, but there are a handful of parks that are great for dog walkers. Ferryslip Road Park is a large open green space with lots of room to roam and run around to your heart's content. You'll need your waste bags and a way to carry them until you get to a trash can, as the walking paths can be a bit spread out in the area. Chesapeake City Park is a wonderful place to be a pup if you are looking for a small and well-tended park to visit with your dog. Don't forget to bring some treats along!

White Swan Lake is both the name of this pupperific little town and the large lake that rests in the middle of it. This town is great for commuters who need a location that gives them easy access to both Maryland and Delaware. You can visit the town's lake on hot days for an easy way to beat the heat within walking distance of most of the homes in the area. You will want to bring some dry towels with you in case your pup gets overly excited when he gets a whiff of the sparkling water in front of him!

Elk Neck State Forest

Elk Neck State Forest

Elk Neck State Forest is just thirty minutes from Chesapeake City. This huge state park is a puptastic place to go for a day or weekend of getting back to basics with nature. You can get out your dog's favorite harness for a full day of hiking fun, or you can throw a tent in the back of your car for a camping trip in the designated camping areas. If you plan on staying in the park for any length of time, you will also want a good flea and tick prevention routine, as the thick woods can bring unwanted visitors to your dog's attention!

Windsor Village

Windsor Village

Windsor Village is a wonderful place to be a pup. You will find Meadow Park is right in the center of this neighborhood, just 15 minutes away from Chesapeake City. If you find yourself in this park with your pup, make sure you have some waste bags with you for quick and easy clean-up as you go. Big Elk Creek takes up quite a bit of space in this neighborhood and commands the attention of residents on both two and four legs, so you will definitely want to make some time to visit. Your dog will be grateful for some dry towels waiting for him back in the car!

Fifteen minutes from Chesapeake City, right across the state line in the state of Delaware is the community of Glasgow. This community is home to Glasgow Regional Park, where you will find activities for the whole family, from walking to skating and biking. Dogs are a familiar sight in this park; just be sure to use a short, non-retractable leash to keep your pup close when the park is busy. Just a short drive away from the center of Glasgow is Lums Pond State Park. This park is a huge area with walking and hiking paths, as well as a large pond that is stocked with fish!
