Your pup will love a visit to the Heurich Dog Park. There are separate areas for little and big dogs, and both areas feature doggie water fountains, agility equipment, and toys. Dog parents will love sitting on the benchesand bragging about their super intelligent pup while Fido chases his tail and barks at his shadow. Doggie waste bags are available here, and there are trashcans near the dog park. Access to the Sligo Creek Trail is also located nearby when you want the peace and quiet of a hike through nature.

Strolling through the New Carrollton neighborhood offers an opportunity to visit West Lanham Hills Neighborhood Park. The area features grassy areas with picnic tables and a playground. This pup and family friendly neighborhood features a great area to walk with your pooch at Landover Hills Neighborhood Park. Many residents and visitors enjoy the public tennis courts, but the park also features a walking loop trail that is perfect for Fido’s daily exercise. Families will also enjoy the football and soccer fields, and planning a picnic at the shelter with friends. When your pooch needs to work off some excess energy, take her over to the park to run and romp, but remember to bring your own doggie waste bags.

The Mt. Rainier Neighborhood features walking trails where you can exercise with your pup in the great outdoors. The Northwest Branch Trail can be accessed on West Park Drive, and meanders along the Anacostia River.
