Located in the central portion of the state of Maine, the town of Newport was settled in 1808, and was well known for its carriage-making industry.  It is a popular location for visitors from all over the state who enjoy Sabasticook Lake, which makes up most of the town’s area.  Your pup will enjoy their stay here as well and if they ever need care, look no further than the town’s Moosehead Trail Veterinary Hospital.

There are numerous campgrounds which are your ticket to the great outdoors. Spend quality time together and book an overnight stay at either the Sabasticook Lake Campgrounds or Christies Campground. They both have similar features such as tent sites and cabins and playgrounds for the kiddies and are pup-friendly. All pups must remain on leash at both locations. Or why not try the Moosehead Trail Campground which is dog-friendly, with live entertainment every night during the summer. Fido is welcome to stay with you on leash to enjoy the music!

For  delightful walk, hop on the Newport River Walk for a short stroll along the Sabasticook River, which runs from Witham Park to the Center Street bridge.

So, if you are looking for some fun, head to Newport where you and pup can enjoy each other’s company.
