Mankato is a Fido-friendly town featuring many great hiking trails and parks. The rivers and lakes provide a wonderful place to take your pooch out for a day of fun activities and exercise while enjoying the beautiful views and landscape.

Red Jacket Trail is just one adventure you and your pooch can explore. It is part of the network of former rail lines and offers 13 miles of trail to follow.  Traveling over the railroad bridges and through the woods allows your pup plenty of space to sniff and roll in the grass.

You may also want to plan a day with the family at the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail. As another rail-to-trail path, you can walk parts of the 39 miles of paved trail that meanders through the city. The attached park is also a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch while Fido runs around having a furtastic time smelling flowers and looking for wildlife.

Taking care of your pup’s medical needs is not a problem in Mankato. Four qualified veterinary clinics are available for routine and emergency care. Finding a great dog-friendly restaurant in town is also easy. Check out Blue Bricks Bar and Eatery, where you can enjoy a sandwich or salad and relax at the outdoor seating with your pooch. Another option is Pub 500 where you can have drinks with friends and their furry companions.

There is plenty of grass and trees for shade, and the park even provides clean up bags to help keep the area clean. Neighbors often bring their pups after a long day at work to run off some excess energy. There are benches available so doggie owners can sit and chat while their pups socialize. If you are looking for a nice dog-friendly place to spend the night, Days Inn welcomes two pets for an additional fee.
