Apex, North Carolina, is one of the suburbs of Raleigh and a very pet-friendly community. There are many animal-related attractions and amenities located in the large town. Apex is a great place for families, including families with cats, dogs or other pets. There is a lot of green and a strong community spirit which makes Apex one of the most attractive cities in the country.

One of the most beloved (or maybe barktastic!) parks in the city is the Apex Community Park. This sprawling community park offers recreational trails through woodlands and alongside a large lake. There are also benches, shelters, picnic tables and much more. Dogs are allowed to take advantage of the beauty, scenery, and activities as long as they are leashed.

Apex also offers off-leash opportunities for local dog owners as there are dog parks located at Hunter Street Park and Apex Nature Park. These parks are fully fenced and allow dogs to roam and romp around without a leash. Both dog parks are open to members only to ensure the safety and maintenance of the parks.

The American Tobacco Trail, a 22-mile rails-to-trails route that winds through Wake County, makes for a more historical and cultural expedition. While dogs have to be leashed at all times, the hiking trail makes for an interesting experience for both dogs and their owners.
