I have spent the past 20+ years in an office and now I get to be outside that window walking our best friends rain or shine. I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin where I learned to take care of many kinds of animals but I saw first hand how smart and caring dogs are and will never forget our hero. Skipper our little Boston Terrier followed Joe our large Shepard/Lab mix all over the farm and one day right into a creek he couldn't get out of. Joe ran home barking out of control and lead me back to saved his little buddy from drowning. Since then Tyson our fluffy white Samoyed and I passed our training classes and he learned to walk beside me instead of pulling me like I was a sled. I also have two Gran dogs, Reeses a Springer Spaniel who searches the whole house until he finds me when he visits and Simba a Golden Retriever who I just taught how to high-five. Dogs are amazing animals that deserve all the love back they give so unconditionally!

“It's always a nice day for a walk !”

Hello, I'm Tuan. I recently retired from a long career as a software engineer in RTP. Now, my daily exercise is to walk and explore the various neighborhoods in the triangle. I'd love to have your dog as my companion. The walk will do both of us good. I grew up with dogs and cats always underfoot. Unfortunately, my kids have pet dander allergies so no pets in the house for the long term. My wife and I handle our addiction by doing fostering weekends for one of the local shelters.

Hi. My name is Michele and I love dogs! I applied for a job once because the teaser ad said "Need graphic designer–must love dogs." That's me! Graphic designer and I love dogs. I have owned 2 golden retrievers, a shepherd mix, 2 labrador retrievers, and now have a Staffordshire Terrier named Eva. I am self-employed and when I found out about WAG!, I thought what a great way to take a break during the day and help someone out at the same time! So, I applied to be a dog walker.

Dog Walking in Carrboro

The town of Carrboro, North Carolina was originally called West End, which is fitting, considering it’s just west of Chapel Hill. First incorporated in 1911, Carrboro is steeped in history. It’s known for being one of the most progressive places in the southeastern United States. Several mills in Carrboro were billed as top weapon suppliers during World War II. No matter where you visit in Carrboro, there’s sure to be a story or two just waiting to be told.

Today, Carrboro is a hustlin’ and bustlin’ little town known for being popular with college students. It’s not just fun for them, though; Carrboro also has plenty to offer your dog! With several restaurants offering dog-friendly dining, including a deli, a diner, and a pizza joint, there are plenty of places you can eat with your pooch. There are also two veterinarian offices, including one that’s open around the clock for any emergencies you just can’t plan for. If you’re looking for a place with a rich history where you can enjoy the little things, make sure to check out Carrboro.

Located in the heart of Carrboro is the Libba Cotton Bikeway, and although this trail is relatively short at less than a half a mile, it’s still a great place for you to go and walk your dog! During the summer, there’s plenty of plant life growing along the trail, which provides a beautiful view for you and your pooch. Make sure to keep Fido on a leash at all times; a shorter leash is better, as it keeps him out of the way of bicyclists. Bring along water and waste disposal bags to clean up any messes.

Carrboro’s Anderson Park is a great place to take your dog for some off-leash fun! This spacious dog park is known for its large size, meaning your dog will have no issue fitting in his exercise. Let your dog make some new friends in the safety of a double-gated park. Keep in mind that this dog park doesn’t divide dogs by size; all dogs play in one area. If this doesn’t work for your dog, you might want to consider other options. Bring along water and waste disposal bags. Locals warn that, after a heavy rain, this park can become quite muddy.

Located so close to Carrboro that many people think it’s within the town is Chapel Hill’s Carolina North Forest. If you’re an experienced hiker looking for a new adventure, this place can’t be beat! With several different trails throughout the forest, you and your dog can enjoy walking for as long as you like. Your dog will need to be on a leash at all times; it’d be easy for him to get lost. You can download trail maps online. Grab your walking shoes, some water, and get moving! Make sure to bring along waste disposal bags to clean up along the trail.

Ten minutes south of Carrboro is Chapel Hill’s Southern Dog Park, which provides yet another opportunity for you and your dog to have a pawesome time playing with each other and other dogs! With plenty of trees for shade, neither you nor your dog will get overheated. There’s seating for pup parents while your dog plays, and there’s also a separate, smaller area for little dogs or dogs who are shy. You’ll want to bring your own waste disposal bags, as none are provided. Water is hit or miss; sometimes water is provided, but sometimes it isn’t, so make sure to bring along your own just in case.

Located exactly ten miles from Carrboro is Blands, and despite the name, the town’s Eagle Spur Rail-Trail is far from boring! This trail is nearly two and a half miles long, making it perfect for either beginners or more experienced hikers. Eagle Spur Rail-Trail leads you through lush woods, and the trail isn’t paved, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Your dog can join you, of course, but he needs to stay on a leash at all times. It’d be very easy for him to run off and get lost, should he get scared or see wildlife. Make sure to bring along plenty of water for both you and Fido.
