Central Carrboro
Located in the heart of Carrboro is the Libba Cotton Bikeway, and although this trail is relatively short at less than a half a mile, it’s still a great place for you to go and walk your dog! During the summer, there’s plenty of plant life growing along the trail, which provides a beautiful view for you and your pooch. Make sure to keep Fido on a leash at all times; a shorter leash is better, as it keeps him out of the way of bicyclists. Bring along water and waste disposal bags to clean up any messes.

Anderson Park
Carrboro’s Anderson Park is a great place to take your dog for some off-leash fun! This spacious dog park is known for its large size, meaning your dog will have no issue fitting in his exercise. Let your dog make some new friends in the safety of a double-gated park. Keep in mind that this dog park doesn’t divide dogs by size; all dogs play in one area. If this doesn’t work for your dog, you might want to consider other options. Bring along water and waste disposal bags. Locals warn that, after a heavy rain, this park can become quite muddy.

Carolina North Forest
Located so close to Carrboro that many people think it’s within the town is Chapel Hill’s Carolina North Forest. If you’re an experienced hiker looking for a new adventure, this place can’t be beat! With several different trails throughout the forest, you and your dog can enjoy walking for as long as you like. Your dog will need to be on a leash at all times; it’d be easy for him to get lost. You can download trail maps online. Grab your walking shoes, some water, and get moving! Make sure to bring along waste disposal bags to clean up along the trail.

Southern Community Park
Ten minutes south of Carrboro is Chapel Hill’s Southern Dog Park, which provides yet another opportunity for you and your dog to have a pawesome time playing with each other and other dogs! With plenty of trees for shade, neither you nor your dog will get overheated. There’s seating for pup parents while your dog plays, and there’s also a separate, smaller area for little dogs or dogs who are shy. You’ll want to bring your own waste disposal bags, as none are provided. Water is hit or miss; sometimes water is provided, but sometimes it isn’t, so make sure to bring along your own just in case.

Blands
Located exactly ten miles from Carrboro is Blands, and despite the name, the town’s Eagle Spur Rail-Trail is far from boring! This trail is nearly two and a half miles long, making it perfect for either beginners or more experienced hikers. Eagle Spur Rail-Trail leads you through lush woods, and the trail isn’t paved, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Your dog can join you, of course, but he needs to stay on a leash at all times. It’d be very easy for him to run off and get lost, should he get scared or see wildlife. Make sure to bring along plenty of water for both you and Fido.
