This park's main attraction is Kenisco Dam, a historic structure that was completed in 1917. You and your dog can go for walks along the base of the 307-foot-high dam. Or, you can go for treks through the forest surrounding the dam. Plus, the park also has a big open field where you can run with your dog. Bring water and doggy bags with you, and have a great time exploring this fun-filled park.

Located 3.5 miles from Valhalla, this off-leash area includes separate areas for big and small dogs to play in. Both areas are fully fenced, and they include lots of benches for owners. Water and doggy bags are also available for your pup inside the dog park. After the dog park, continue your fun day out with lunch at The Iron Tomato. This restaurant welcomes dogs at the outdoor tables, and their eclectic menu includes sushi rolls, sandwiches, salads, and more.

If you’re looking for a fun place to go for an on-leash hike with your dog, head to the Hardscrabble Wilderness Area. This beautiful natural area is about six miles from Valhalla, and it’s home to a popular 3.5-mile trail. This pawesome loop trail will take you through a forest and up hills that provide stunning views of the surrounding area. The trail also goes past creeks that your pup can play in. Bring doggy bags and water with you, and have a good time hiking this trail. If all that hiking makes you hungry, head to Orfino’s Restaurant. Sit at one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy classic Italian fare.

Manhattan’s Inwood neighborhood is home to Inwood Hill Park, a puptastic place to spend the day with your dog. Located about 20 miles from Valhalla, this park has beautiful forest trails where you can take your dog for on-leash walks. The park also has a fenced-in off-leash area where your pup can run and play to their heart’s content. Bring your dog’s water bowl with you, and have a pawesome day out at this park. If you want to get a bite to eat after visiting the park, head over to The Park View Café. Grab one of their dog-friendly tables, and enjoy classic diner fare, including customizable omelets, sandwiches, salads, and burgers.

If you’re searching for another great off-leash area for your pup, head to Ossining Dog Park. This off-leash park is 10.5 miles from Valhalla, and it has separate areas for large and small dogs. Both areas are mulched to prevent the ground from getting muddy, and they both have lots of trees to keep your pup cool while they’re playing. There are also shady benches for owners to relax on while their dogs play. If you or your dog get thirsty while you’re at the park, dog and human water fountains are both available. Your pup will love running around and meeting new friends in this fun park!
