Dog Walking in Delta

Bordering Maryland, Delta is a small Pennsylvania borough of just 700 residents. Since this community straddles two states, there are plenty of dog-friendly amenities nearby, including six veterinarians within ten miles of town.

Just eight miles south of Delta is Rocks State Park, located in Jarrettsville, Maryland. This massive, 855-acre park welcomes leashed pups on its hiking trail, and, if desired, picnic areas can be rented for a small service charge. Also, just six minutes from the park is the Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli, where pups are welcome on the outdoor patio.

Another dog-friendly area is the Eden Mill Nature Center, which is just fifteen minutes southwest in Pylesville, Maryland. This park is rarely overcrowded, so it’s considered a hidden gem. Its trails run along Bear Creek, so at the end of your hike, your pup can enjoy a large swimming hole. Trails range in length from just a hundred yards to over a third of a mile, so you can enjoy several of them during your visit. Just keep Fido on a leash!

Yet another popular park is Abingdon Road Dog Park in Abingdon, Maryland. This park, which is thirty-five minutes south of Delta, is brand new, clean, and nicely turfed with wood chips to prevent mud holes. There are separate sections for both small and large dogs, too!
